While Philly might not have the gangs (by name) that Chicago has, there is definitely neighborhood beef between different streets, blocks, or neighborhoods. This is essentially the same thing as gang warfare. I lived in Philly for ten years, and taught in the worst alternative schools, where kids like these were my students.

This is a tired excuse that isn't supported by facts. There are plenty of poor neighborhoods in America comprised of mostly whites, yet we don't see the the same homicide statistics. There is a devaluation of life within our community that needs to be addressed.

The "block" beefs are so ridiculous. I remember when nikkas from the Point Breeze section (South Philly) were beefing over that very reason. It's so fukking stupid how they could normalize offing a breh, losing one in a retaliation attack, and then rinsing and repeating. You didn't even have to be involved in the beef directly. Simply being from a particular street like Reed or Wharton automatically made you a target.

Two things

1. Ever since the Baltimore riots, the police here and in Baltimore have been extremely hands off.

2. Nobody ever talks about this but Philly is the only major city with white ghettos still. You know a city is Fukked up when even the cacs are fukked up

I’d personally just suggest leaving cities like this ASAP.

People here aren’t killing over money. Just mentally unstable people killing over basic disagreements, this is why I can’t deal with people who apologize for people who terrorize our communities

There are urban non black communities with drugs and poverty in America but in those communities they don’t kill one another or terrorize their own at the same rate black people do
