As nice as Cordae is, I can't get into his music

There's like this new breed of MC that are dope lyrically, but I can't get into their music and it seems the reason is, is because they have no backstory/background that's interesting. A bunch of nice raps with nothing behind it.

never heard Cordae played on repeat anywhere. he's recognized not forced

there's no longer artist development and rappers learn on the job. Cordae has the same rough things about him Cole did. Cole took a long ass time to make decent albums. Like Cordae he can kill features and verses but had to develop better bodies of work. these dudes don't lack a story they just don't have a contrived one that appeals to the values people have come to look for in rap... how real you are, went thru a struggle, feared/respected where you come from etc etc.

if you wanna be discounted and hated in rap the worst thing you can be is a regular ass person.

And this isn't a Cordae hate thread, I actually think the kid is super talented. But every time I give his music a chance, I get bored and can barely finish a song. And I think I figured out what it was that's making me not care for it.

I don’t know how to describe it but I think it’s the lisp. The lisp plus not being as charismatic kinda hurts Him. It’s the same with Joyner Lucas to me. He hasn’t tried and come off as Corny as Joyner but you can’t ignore the lisp

I mean....he's 24. Most of the rappers I listened to growing up was on their 3rd and 4th albums by age 24.

YBN Cordae is like the George Hill of rap. All the players like George Hill and he gets respect from the coaches as well. You can see why everyone likes him and roots for him to win. But he's just as good as what it seems. He's not a scrub. He's actually a solid player. But you could never call him more than solid. He will never be a great or even make an all NBA team. But he's likable and servicable.

That's how I feel about YBN Cordae

I’m sorry but all them dudes was always trash. This is an unpopular opinion, but Cordae horrible too. Not skills wise, just as far as being listenable. I simply don’t want to listen to his shyt. It’s flavorless like water. The other dude almighty Jay just terrible. As a matter of fact, the other two so horrible, it helped Cordae cause rapping next to them nikkas made him look like Nas. But being positive and seeming like you got some sense does not equal enjoyable music. One of the woat recent rap collectives

It’s not that I’m unfamiliar with his music, i said it was flavorless like water. That shyt ain’t for me. I don’t think none of them nikkas make enjoyable music. Cordae just has sense and is more positive as a rapper. Still not listening to dude.

To me, he’s the rapper you want to like very bad, but something just don’t connect. I’m a fan of everything about Cordae...except for the actual music.

I have to listen to his mixtapes, his album was really solid and he's definitely one of the brightest rappers out.

He also doesn't have the charisma of YBN Nahmir. But I'm sure he'll grow.
