Yea like im all for diversity but there is 0 reason to make Prof X and Mag black just for the sake of making them black. But im sure some dumb ass coli member gonna come in here screaming "CAC"

So the whole X-men franchise can piggy back and thrive off the black plight, pattern it's two main characters off of famous civil rights leaders but it's completely out of the question to make them actually be black? I'm not saying do it just to do it, it should make sense but a lot of the push back at the notion has nothing to do with the integrity of the characters, it's because white folks are uneasy when people start doing to their movies/media (race bending) what they have been doing to world history.

I hope every beloved white charater get's "he gonna be black!" rumors just to see particular people squirm in their seats, even if it never comes about.

Dallas, Texas but living in Houston, Texas
Only issue I would have is the Holocaust played a big role in Magneto's development. If they cast a person of color their circumstances would have to be similar. I highly doubt they would go with Magneto being a Palestinian. They could possibly do Magneto as a black South African. He can be in his late 40s/early 50s so he would have experienced Apartheid during the 70s and 80s and that shape his worldview. But then it would be tricky because Wanda and Quicksilver are eastern European so how would they explain that unless they'll ignore it.

Or since the MCU borrowed heavily from the Ultimate comics they could make Magneto a mutant supremacist and ignore the Holocaust origin completely. That would probably be best because the Holocaust happened nearly 80 years ago with the youngest living survivors in their 70s presently. They got away with it in the comics because he got deaged to a baby and then got aged to prime adulthood(30s/40s) but IDK how they could do that on film.

The funny thing is Magneto didn't even start off Jewish :mjlol::mjlol:

They retroactively made him a Jew years later because a writer wanted to make him more sympathetic to that era of comic readers, and the Holocaust was the notable event to get easy rub from.

In other words, he was a generic evil mutant white man whose origin they rectonned to make him more trendy in their current political climate. Imagine that :troll:

Just make him a white Jew getting thrown in a concentration camp. No need to complicate things

Mags can still be a present day jew. Just make genosha a modern day concentration camp for the new “mutant problem” where they are getting experimented on and slaughtered. u can have sinister there hidden doing his research and that leads to apocalypse waking up in a later movie

Marvel Studios Reportedly Eyeing Denzel Washington For Iconic Villain Role

Earlier today, I brought you the rumor that Marvel Studios was reportedly considering casting people of color in the roles of Magneto and Professor X when they reboot the X-Men franchise.

For what it’s worth, I think it’s an excellent idea, as Marvel has been extremely formulaic with their approach to villains, and throwing a curveball when casting two of their most iconic characters would provide fans with something new and exciting.

Anyway, in that same article about the casting rumors, I pontificated on who I’d like to see in such roles, particularly, Denzel Washington and Will Smith:

Two of the first names that pop into my head are Denzel Washington as Magneto and Will Smith as Professor X, who have both conveniently yet to appear in an MCU role.

RELATED STORIES

Thanks to Training Day, we already know that Washington can do evil extremely well, and due to Will Smith’s general warmth and charisma, we know he has the chops to play a character as compassionate and intelligent as Professor X.

And who would have guessed it, but just hours later, a rumor broke that Denzel Washington is exactly who Marvel Studios is reportedly looking at to portray the X-Men’s most iconic villain.

Marvel might be looking to cast a person of color for Magneto and among the actors on their wishlist is none other than Denzel Washington. That’s according to sources close to WGTC, the same ones who told us Moon Knight and Black Knight were headed to the MCU, long before those two things became official. As such, we have no reason to doubt this intel. [We Got This Covered]

Given that Denzel is as much of a blockbuster actor as he is a prestige drama actor these days — his recent filmography includes two The Equalizer films and a remake of The Magnificent Seven — there’s no reason to believe he wouldn’t be open to getting a check from Marvel Studios.

Plus, out of all the comic book characters out there, Magento is easily one of the most complexly layered and is ripe for the artistic interpretation that an actor of Denzel’s caliber would bring to the role.

While Marvel Studios has yet to make any formal announcement regarding X-Men (or Fantastic Four, for that matter), fans are expecting the legendary team of mutants to make their debut in the MCU after Phase 5 kicks off in 2022.

This is likely all bs.. Maybe marvel leaked these rumors to gauge reactions but I doubt any of this shyt happens..

And Denzel likely wouldn't lock himself into Disney's demands

Re: Diversity for the sake of diversity

What's funny about this often used talking point is that none of this would even be happening if white people for the past 60-70 years didn't make all these damn superheroes white for the sake of being white :mjlit:

400 years ago - 2010s (or whatever :troll:) = white for the sake of white

2010s-2019 = diversity for the sake of diversity :wow:

Bbb-but why does the character have to be black? I hate this SJW shyt!

Me: Why did the character have to be white? I hate this NBC (nothing but cac) shyt! :mjlit:

Whatever happens, don't blame Feige or general audiences for not giving a shyt about source material accuracy, instead blame the white people running comics who made you think 1 black person for every 15 white people was acceptable practice :picard:

With that said, I'd prefer Denzel or Will Smith to be Blue Marvel tho.

Call me a purist, but I just want to see the Magneto and Professor X to be as close to the OG comics as possible. I didn't like how the Bryan Singer/Fox films tried to do all this weird, different stuff just for the sake of it, or because a certain character was played by somebody. Len Wein, Dave Cockrum, Chris Claremont, and John Byrne already laid out the blueprint. All Feige and the people at Marvel need to do is follow it.

As far as Magneto's backstory however, I definitely agree that the Holocaust angle doesn't really work anymore. It makes him too flabby and sick :flabbynsick:
(The comics got away with it because Magneto was de-aged to a baby at the end of the Silver Age X-men, and he got restored to his physical prime a bit later on.)

If anything, they should establish that Hydra secretly survived after their defeat in WWII. Show how they built death camps on the low and conducted a savage genocide throughout Eastern Europe during the 70s or 80s. Have Magneto be a survivor of that tragedy.

EDIT: It's too bad they never made an X-men movie back in the 80s or early 90s.
Rutger Hauer could have been the GOAT Magneto back then :wow:

Uh you really just made that last part up. lol Wakanda was referenced in the first Cap movie before anyone was asking anything of the MCU.
But Magneto especially being a Jewish refugee from the Holocaust is now outdated. They should make him Arab/Persian from a war torn country in the middle east of they telling the mutant story in modern times.

They mentioned Vibranium because of Cap's shield, when did they mention Wakanda in First Avenger?
