Now he's never been able to reach the level that he was at in the 70's and many other film directors have had much longer creative runs than him but the man was an innovator and made the 3 GREATEST movies of all time and no other film director can say that they made the 3 GREATEST movies of all time:

The Godfather, The Godfather 2, and Apocalypse Now:

No other film director IMO has ever released movies like those that have become so significant to culture in American film, tv and entertainment. There's been so many skits, homages, and remakes of scenes and quotes from these movies unlike any other movies.

Oh yeah and for even more great measure, Coppola even made The Conversation and Patton, both classic films:

Brehs, Francis Ford Coppola is the GOAT film director

You can't be GOAT if you fell off as hard as he did. His run in the 70's is above fantastic, but every movie after Apocalypse Now ranges from average to absolute trash (In all fairness, I haven't seen them all, but the ones I've seen were shyt). I wonder if there is any truth to that myth of him losing his spirit after Apocalypse Now.

I hear what you're saying but Coppola made both The Godfather 1, The Gofather 2 AND Apocalypse Now. :damn::wow:

Those movies alone are better than other film directors' filmographies. Heck, The Godfather 2 alone is better than other film director's filmographies.

He could've retired after he made those 3 films and been a legend just off of those 3 films. None of those 3 films are ordinary in the least bit, they are as great, innovative, and excellent as it gets.

As for his movies after Apocalypse Now, they weren't all bad. In fact, there were a few really good ones in the 80's and 90's like Rumble Fish, The Outsiders, The Cotton Club, Tucker: The Man And His Dream, The Rainmaker, and Bram Stoker's Dracula. As for the 2000's, his movies haven't been all that, except for Tetro which was ok. But again, the man directed The Godfather 1 and 2 and Apocalypse Now. :wow:

another one is Talia Shire.

Talia Shire is Francis Ford Coppola's sister. No one cares of course because she is a :lawd: actress.
