As expected, the College Football Playoff ratings were WAY down. They fukked it up.

Those are 3 of the ten biggest fan bases in america :heh:

Bama, nd, uofm, tn, Texas, OK, USC, msu, Georgia, OSU

Exactly, the SEC Title Game pulled in 12 million viewers, OSU-Michigan pulled in 10 million viewers at 11am, Iron Bowl pulled in 9 million viewers, OSU-MSU pulled in 11 million viewers just to name a few so if those are all local viewers then this country is bigger than I thought.

Yeah they messed up and they know it. I won't be surprised if the next few playoff matches get magically knocked back a few days because of "scheduling conflict" or whatever BS excuse they're going to make up :mjpls:

The blowout definitely won't help it, they hyped it up like it was gonna be 2 USC-Texas type game when in reality, it was two Alabama-Notre Dame games.

They better pray the national championship is good because if it isn't

If that happens then, next year, people who aren't fans of the next 4 teams are going to be like "fukk I look like watching another year of blowouts? :scust: " It all depends on what teams they get in next year as well. If we get Alabama, USC, Notre Dame, and Michigan as the Final Four then :whew:

People saying it was because the teams are idiots.while it wasn't the greatest matchups TV wise especially Ou Clemson u still had a big market big ten team and Bama. Last year Oregon Fla St did numbers which are two extremely small markets.

Nye is the worst tv day of the year. Almost everyone goes out aside from really old people

That's the biggest factor but there's no doubt the blowouts made people ditch midgame. Just an underwhelming result.

Its not even that people were going out. The first playoff game came on at 4pm eastern, meaning unless your job let you off early you didnt get home until halftime, and thats just the east coast. The other time zones had people miss that whole game.

They need to either have both playoff games on the 1st and if that doesnt work do like they did with the BCS and put them on consecutive nights. If the bowls cant work with that (Rose) then maybe that bowl shouldnt host playoff games.

everybody doesnt force themselves to go out and fake party on new years eve brehs.

the real downside is the day game. new year's eve isnt an automatic day off for most people, even if its just a half-day for many.

if they plan on pushing it to 8-teams, then they might as well just keep it the way it is. but if its gonna stay at 4, they should think about moving it to new years

No surprise this shyt aint have no buzz at all no star power last year was loaded.

Winston and hated FSU on 29 game streak vs Mariota in Rose Bowl.

Urban vs Saban OSU vs Bama = Money

that rematch wouldve been a playoff game this year if they pushed it up to 8 teams already.
the quarterfinals wouldve made for more intriguing matches than the 2 games we had.

the alabama/ohio state rematch wouldve drew more ratings than any of the games we had this year so far.
stanford as a 5 knocking off oklahoma wouldve been good.
houston wouldve had clemson on the ropes.
michigan state/iowa rematch. yea they just played in the big 10 chip, but it went down to the wire.

we wouldve got a better semifinal too w/ stanford/clemson

They did last year. This is why I don't understand why they changed it. Doesn't make sense.

interesting to see what happens next year with new year's eve falling on a saturday. thats usually NFL territory.

i dont see how the rose bowl is in the way. i mean, whats stopping them from having the 1st playoff game at noon and the 2nd one at 8?

The fact that 90 or so percent of all bowl games were on cable is what did it

Not only were the match ups blowouts but lack of exposure killed the bowl games. ESPN better stop being greedy

THIS.

and whatever happened to the gator bowl? does it still exist? it lost its buzz when it went from nbc to espn2 or.............. espnu.
