As expected, the College Football Playoff ratings were WAY down. They fukked it up.

It hurts the fans. Also do you know about advertisement dollars or business at all?

The ratings dropped a QUARTER in one year because of the date they had to move it to which it will be for 8 of the next 11 years

Espn is in panic mode now. They didn't pay a shyt ton for playoff games to get a 9

Yeah this is bad I wonder what the numbers were for the games yesterday. They gonna shyt bricks if the non playoff games did better numbers :mjlol:

I don't think the date is the sole reason.the first year got an artificial bump from being something that's never happened before

The fact that it's 3 GGs simultaneously as I speak ND vs OSU, FLorida vs Mich, & Tennessee vs Northwestern speaks volumes on how the schedule is fukked up big time on New Yrs day

that aint chit.

the glory days was when it was like 5 games on at once, as somebody said earlier.

The Sugar and Rose have always had there games on this slots on New Years. Neither wanted to move from their spots, basically f'ing up the schedule.

The New Years lineup used to be:
1pm- Citrus (ABC), Cotton (CBS), Hall of Fame/ Outback (NBC), another bowl (ESPN)
4:30pm- Fiesta (NBC)
5pm- Rose (ABC)
8pm- Orange (NBC)
8:30pm- Sugar (ABC)

Basically, Rose and Sugar have had these time slots in contract with ABC/ESPN for years. Its also why they have the semifinals in the same year.

when i started watching, the hall of fame(outback) was on espn. back when heith shula was coming out.

i always remembered the cotton bowl for being on fox.

ayo, yall remember the john hancock bowl? pause.

I love the NYE idea. it's gonna turn into a new tradition. thanksgiving is NFL Xmas is NBA and NYE is ncaa playoffs. I'm down. :manny: also good excuse to keep people at home instead of going out and drinking themselves to death on NYE
A new tradition? What's the point of that? Having the Bowl games on New Year's Day IS the College Football tradition. Traditionally, this is the day that college football programs achieved for. To play in New Year's Day Bowls and if you're good enough, a chance at a national title. The semifinals shouldn't be any different. I don't care if you have a four of Texas, Alabama, USC, Ohio State, most people are going to get ready to party on NYE. Next year, the ratings may be higher since NYE will be on a Saturday.
