Great actress, personal favorite of mine although she hasn't been in too many (good) movies in recent times. She was absolutely killing it in the early 00s though.

i was watchin' cbs "sunday morning" this mornin' and they had an interview with her in support of her new film "shelter" which her husband actually wrote and directed (paul bettany). but all the while talkin' about her upcomin' film which is about, they were goin' over her career as an actress a bit and the great films she's starred in like requiem for a dream, a beautiful mind, house of sand and fog, and noah
i can't find a link to the whole interview right now but here's a link to a brief recap of it
i think the only movies i've ever seen that she's been in are higher learning and career opportunities. but i remember hearin' how great of a movie requiem for a dream is
so what's y'all take on her as an actress?
She could have been greater than she is but she took her foot off the peddle somewhere around dark water. And the fact Wil Smith's son (Who could easily pass for mixed) had to be written as her "adopted" son in TDTESS kind of rubbed me the wrong way. An actress of her calibre could easily veto that but she didn't, seemed mad
