As a whole, the NBA has lost around 45% of its viewership since 2012.

Assuming that article is factual

I don't think 3pters are the reason.

Everyone says that, yet the biggest ratings draw is Steph Curry of all people...

I think the real culprit is that the current stars are wack... they foul bait and load manage.

So it makes the product feel boring when the players themselves don't care.

Again, this mfer Embiid comes out and says he'll never play back to back again. The fukk?

Oh yeah.. and foreigners are never big ratings draws.

There's more people who watch/follow NBA than ever before.

Do you have metrics that actually prove this?

I don’t believe the NBA as a business would allow their main revenue source to be jeopardized by people stealing the product. And to have it happen on such a large scale as well.

TV ratings are pretty much down everywhere, especially for a product that spans as long as the NBA does.

The NBA has been fighting a battle to restrict laws on illegal streaming for a minute now.

Young people don't watch shyt on cable anymore. It's really as simple as that. Even when they are digesting NBA content, illegally, they're less likely to sit down for hours on end and watch a whole game, when they could be consuming other entertainment instead and then only tracking what they believe is relevant like highlights.

Cable is dying, League Pass is a waste of money and there's more entertainment now than ever before (cats only have two eyeballs).

:manny:

Over the last decade NBA is more popular than ever.

Unless you buy on 3 different platforms/services, you can't even watch all of your team's games. Silver selling games to the highest bidder has been bleeding their live viewership

Nobody watches Tv anymore and you got to have like 4 different streaming services to watch all the games it's so stupid

There's way more things entertainment wise to do then many years ago. When I was a kid I watched the NBA all the time, these new kids be watching Kai Cenet from the moment they come home from school to the time they go to school again the next day.
