About whenever future came out was that around 2010-2011? That whole migos, future all of that I couldnt mess with but I fukks with Scooter though.

haha no doubt young scooter was official, columbia especially was cooked crack. interesting that i view him as occupying the same lane as super & migos but inferior... yet you prefer him over them. when i first heard them nikkas i lost it, like omg what the fukk is in the atlanta water to keep creating these nice dudes like that??? migos ain't the same as 2013 (i was late on they wave), especially quavo but i still rock with them

anyway i haven't stopped listening at all. i have my criticisms of the new school but i'm still in tune and genuinely interested in their artistic expression. to each his own though, my cousin is three years younger than me and stopped over a decade ago lol. flatly refused to listen to mid to late 2000's swag rap/blog rap like weezy, the cool kids, j cole, drizzy, wiz khalifa, kidz in the hall, charles hamilton, tanya morgan etc saying all them nikkas gay lmao. hey it's happens to a lot of old heads i guess

Never. I admit I don’t keep up like I used to becuz there’s SO MUCH music being released compared to the past that I can’t keep up. But I always like to stay current as best as possible. I refuse to be one of them old nikkas who complain and don’t even know whats out. If I say something is garbage it’s becuz I gave it a chance
/thread

I can never stop especially as a producer/dj

Exactly. This is the right answer.

Anyone who comes in here giving a date was never a hip hop fan to begin with. You always have to see where this genre is going if you so called claim to be part of it. I'm looking at all the posters actually giving dates and SMH. Then they complain when other ethnicities engage in it.

How you a rap fan and stop listening to new music?

Y’all not rap fans just fans of your youth and non nolstalgia
Theres thousands of songs and albums for 5,10, 20 years ago that most people never heard and technology has made it all available. If you're still getting music from radio and following label releases your are basically a dinosaur living in the past this isn't 1998 anymore...

See how I flipped it on you..

Actively:patrice:...naw bruh...u don't love this shyt for real....I can't ride with alot of shyt out cuz it ain't made for me...but its my culture...still finding dudes I can listen to...problem is nobody A&Rs no more...that's y alot of this shyt sound sloppy and repetitive..not mixed right and underproduced...dude need to learn music theory and cohesiveness...that's honestly what's separates alot old rap from new rap...watched on ski beats thing when he was talking bout the 90's swing...it was a certain fraction like 1/16th or something that gave records that umph...that's music theory...alot of music now just the same 3-4 keys in different pitch....records don't sound as warm as they use to...sound alot more mechanical due to the synth usage...ppl(fans) need to care bout the craft more and not just fukkery and bank accounts...

I still check for new shyt. I stay digging through old shyt.

But if I don't like an artist off first listen/impression, I bush them. I don't give music a chance to "grow on me".

I still say for all the hate that folks like Migos get, purists would be all on their shyt if they did an album full of Alc/OhNo beats.

edit: okay, not all on their shyt at this point in their careers. . But a lotta nikkas and naysayers would suddenly be like ":patrice: I.... guess they a'aight. I..... guess."

I've liked music by some new artists since then, like K Dot, Black Hippy, Childish Gambino, Lupe, Problem, Nip, and few others but I pretty much stick listening to the vets and their old and new music.
