Arizona brehs: I'm in your state and it is beautiful. How is it like to live here?

I visited Phoenix, AZ for a weekend for a friends wedding in 2009 and I only saw 3 black people there the whole time.

Yep this is why I wanted to get fellow black folks opinions. The environment is dope and so far my interactions have been pretty good. Surprised, at least from my experience how nice everyone has been. But haven't seen many black folks though.

My sister lives in PHX and one of her green eyed homies took me to a club, it was mostly black. no idea where I was, cause I was already drinking since noon , but I do know it was mostly black, and good looking people.

Tempe is pawg city, straight up all blonde cheerleader cali valley looking girls and pretty Gabrielle Union looking black girls. I'm telling you, AZ is a secret gem, its just that they only have like 3 cities, but lets be real its a small state anyways and mostly socal transplants (thus the looks).

good looking people and I like the desert feel (obv im a desert baby coming from socal). If I ever move back, AZ and Seattle would be on my radar.

if your a nature person Tucson is def your cup of tea

but people espescially black people barely settle there due to there being so little there and little black people.

what I found funny about AZ...I remember I was coming from New Mexico after smashing some half icelandic half mexican chick (random I know) and I had to pull over to Flagstaff......and this bytch was snowing not heavy snow, but legit slush on the ground, and I'd just came from PHX (3 days prior) where it felt like a heater. these 2 areas are just a couple of hours away from each other. I got on the rode, hit that slush (aint seen that since Ohio) and was legit shocked like

You'd think the entire state is desert, but its different different. Oh and I saw a road runner for the first time

I'm here for work. Done some driving around, for work, and staying in Tucson right now.

But the lack of black folks is giving me a lot of pause in actually seriously pursuing living out here. We're planning on seriously having a kid in the near future and I'm not raising a kid who can't socialize with black folks routinely outside of family. It's sounding like Phoenix is a better bet but I had some folks tell me like you said, its getting crazy crowded and it's like approaching being the 5th largest city if it already isn't.

Going to keep doing research and think it over. Appreciate the insights brehs.

Construction laborers or helpers don’t make shyt out there

Crowded? try LA, PHX is a fukking suburban.

this is also why I said what i said about moving out here, as i explained to that slow ass nikka Sauce Dab . 99% of black people who move here move to PHX. For exactly the reason of lack of blacks in tucson.
PHX may not have the most blacks to meet expectations as those from the east and south expect. But we're out here. Tucson is another story and why blacks move almost solely to PHX/PHX metro area and not Tucson. If someone lived here they would know this but Coli nikkas like to act like they know everything even on states they never been. LOL

If you come from another big city and a more dense one it prolly wont be that bad. It is for me because I lived here all my life and i remember when things were not so busy and crowded. Warning tho, black people are spread out so in regards to being somewhere where blacks dominate heavy in numbers is nonexistent. But there are gonna be a good number out here for him to make friends and interact. Plus there's black events throughout the city.

if you want to be around black folk, you have to either be in south or west valley. i am originally from the southside which arizonans think is the most ghetto but was partially gentrified. blacks live in mexican areas, so you are going to always see that mix when you are in the most affordable parts of the south and the west valley.

i live east valley now, so i am somewhat out of the loop with how things are there now

sedona is the most beautiful spot but you cant really live there. be careful in rural spots that are not tourist destinations - the klan is active in kingman and prescott

depends on where you live and how you are living here

if your renting def theres places here that go for just 800 i think. depending on your bills and car you should make it.

I've been to LA. I'm not under any delusions that Phoenix is matching it in size.

Love that the bud is legal in cali and I took advantage when In LA, but I got to say the thing that stuck with me during my visit there is how terrible the downtown scene is, particularly with the homeless. I'm not a snob or anything but god damn your homeless problem is crazy. I had to make a small run to a little grocery store near my hotel which was downtown at like 8 PM and had to walk to get there and not going to lie I was a bit concerned about my safety. Lots of bars and places to eat. Saw a lakers game at the staples center while I was there and enjoyed all that. But, it was like an insane asylum out on the streets with mentally ill homeless people everywhere.

My fam out there said most of the people in Tucson either work for or attend UA. Outside of that ain’t no nikkas down there just to be living there
