We agree to disagree a lot of these film critics are older and are just biased towards older movies. Also at this point these movies have been held to such a high standard that dudes who never even seen them have them in their top 20. That type of shyt is unacceptable to me. Just accepting something as a classic without ever watching it and formulating your own stance disgust me...same with music.
Is Illmatic a classic? Erick B/Rakim? I dunno never listen to those records so you'll never find me saying their classic or speaking on that shyt at all.
Why have you never heard illmatic or any Eric b and rakim? I don't believe that you have to be old to rank stuff high. You can always go back and listen to stuff you missed which is why I say illmatic is a classic and one of the greatest albums ever.
It's the job of a critic to do the history that you and I don't have to but I also feel like if you're a fan of any art form you do yourself a disservice by not doing the history. I'm listening to a podcast right now and the hosts are early 30s. Like 32 and 33 but when they talk about their greatest movies ever it's a wide range of movies and a lot of them are older than them. Way older. They took it upon themselves to explore film not just see film as something that existed in concurrence with their existence.
how many movies have stood the test of time better than wizard of oz? better than star wars?
people can name every character in those movies.
Godfather. Godfather 2. Goodfellas. Citizen Kane. Do the right thing. Breh you're acting like those movies aren't represented. Star Wars is a bigger movie than the godfather. It's huge but there's no way I can say with a straight film it's the better movie. Same with goodfellas or do the right thing or citizen Kane.
