I don't know...I know and know of alot of mexicans and asians that go by "american" (white) first names. One dude was Coung, pronounced Koo, in highschool, now he goes by Tommy. Charlie Sheen real name is Carlos Estevez. These are people changing their birth names to be more white.

I'm only saying this because I hate that black people are so associated with certain negative things that other groups do to. But like always when we do it, even when were born with those names, it's somehow worse. Black people are always the group that other people put their negative shyt on.

Of course, my whole stance is contingent upon whether or not we consider those groups oppressed by whites.
black people need to stop looking at what other groups do, white people have not oppressed mexicans the same way they have black people.

Nothing worst than running into a cac with the same surname as you. They may not say anything but human nature is to be :lolbron: on the inside. "My great granddaddy made yours eat piss".

At first I was going to change it to something African traditional. However, I'm not a traditional African.

I created a name with African tones but different enough you know I'm not African.

As to jobs discriminating...:stopitslime: fukk them! If need be I would create my own way.
best post in the entire thread.

What if you got your name from your ancestors who after Freedom chose their own last name, and used it to forge their living and essentially create your legacy? Your strength isn't in your name .............Casshius Clay would still be as powerful as ALI had he not changed his name.

Don't be the nerd who believes that he changes how he dresses, it will change he how he views himself. Like they say clothes don't make the man. You can Shabik Muzone, but if you still working for McDonalds with no diploma and no future, you still a slave whether you like the shyt or not.
casshius clay wasnt as powerful as ALI, because casshius clay didnt have as much KNOWLEDGE and understanding as ali.

Wait i might be ignorant on this topic, but I thought the slaves chose their surnames after the Civil War and simply chose the last name of their owners rather than it being forced on them?

firstly please don't refer to me as a nikka, secondly im not sure how much you've traveled, but ive been travling since a child and one thing ive noticed is MOST races have names akin to there race, as a whole its only black people to cling onto white people's names. you gotta ask yourself why do you think that is? go to Japan and try and find how many 'Leroy Smiths' you can find. names have a sense of identity.

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh, nikka, nikka, nikka,

And I am sure the most last names are more catered to the geographical location more so then skin color. To make the bogus statement that blacks are the only ones who keep their "white names" as opposed to American names (being that we are Americans and all) is false and an extreme fallacy on your part. You wont find a Leroy Smith in Smith in Japan because Leroy Smith is an American name, just like you wont find to many born Japanese Americans with Japanese first and last names. Mostly because their parent usually give them a more traditional American name. Names do have a sense of identity and you can fight it till your blue in the face, Your an American, why are you ashamed of that fact? Your in the land that can unlock the door for your race around the world, but people like you keep trying to run away from it.

I used to have an abbreviated last name until I was 10..Williams-Bey.

My maternal great grandmother believed in Moorrish Science...The believers hyphenated their last names w Bey, Ali, or El and some blacks believed(and still do) that we came from the Moors of North West Africa and thus were Moorish by nationality and Islamic by faith. This promoted racial pride and spiritual upliftment and provided African Americans with a sense of identity in the world (Wiki)

When my mom and dad finally got married I became a Hambright :scust:

Hambright ? :dead:

Now I didn't say it originates from America, I said its an American name as is Leroy, don't mince my words. I think that nikkas like you need to stop trying to come up with all these stupid ass idealisms to define your "blackness" and understand the bigger picture. Changing your name is not going to make you powerful in America or anywhere else around the world. To think it will it just short sighted.

For one you don't know where your last name originated from. How it was given to you, or your real history, so to automatically assume it comes from "white people" is dumb in itself.

But say that a majority of the black people in America do have names of their slave masters, what the fukk difference does it make? So you change your name to Shabazz instead of what ever it is now, does not get more jobs, make you better educated, change how your viewed in America, give you more insight on who you are because you created a name out of thin air? What affects will it have on the cause. Other then you thinking its a big fukk you to Uncle Sam. Your logic and way of thinking is asinine and lacks reasoning or purpose. If your ashamed of your name that means your ashamed of your heritage. Which means you are in fact trying to run away from who you are, who your people are, and where you come from. But keep thinking your smarter then me homie.

Try focusing on shoving your name down their throats, instead of trying to create some strawman last name that only provokes your self to feel better about some shyt that you played no part in.
