I would hope you are right, however for example, they could implement a tariff of $3, but charge us $5 worth and lie and say the tariff is $5 charge. This way the corporations make even more money
This is a given. That’s how inflation got even worse. Businesses added an inflation charge just because.

Trump isn't a complete idiot, he knows what will happen if he imposes these tariffs.

The idiots here are people like Danielle Smith who are even dignifying his posturing with serious responses.

Americans will pay 20%+ for Albertan oil if Trump imposes tariffs. That's including exploring and refining more gas here at home.

He's trying to bypass sanctions, the real weapon America uses to force countries on its side, with tariffs; because Canada is an ally.
That shyt won't work...and if by some small chance, it does, all it will do is make Canada join the growing list of countries looking for an alternative to America.

The problem is that the world economy is so interconnected to the US economy that retaliatory tariffs with enough power to tank our economy would bring down the world economy with it. That's why Trump isn't being laughed out of the room for using Tariffs as a threat like he's playing Victoria 3 or something.

Retaliatory tariffs have to be strong enough to cause discomfort among the consumer but not so impactful as to take down the larger US economy. I don't really feel bad for these countries because one way or another they threw their lot in with America's horrible system. Hopefully it encourages a fresh look at the world financial system and bullshyt Capitalism as a whole.
