its that freestyle 1 take shyt nikkas be doing. alot of these songs dont even have hooks in the beat. remember back in the day nikkas would add an element to the beat to make a section for the hook? i dont hear that anymore. It’s hard to even tell when the hook and verse start and end because they’re done with the same flow and usually half the same words so how the fukk can you tell what’s what?
believe it or not i noticed around 2010 when i first came across mac miller in high school around 2:17 this nikka hardly ever spit 3 verses and i never noticed until he said the shyt. then i went back and started paying attention to other new rapper i listened to at the time and they werent doing the shyt either.
and here's the thing, a 25 year old TIP sounded like a goddamn philosopher. Just bars on bars on bars and he was SPITTING.Do you know when exactly did this start happening? It's not anything new, but it's just outrageous realizing how many songs are < 3:30 now.
Just peep these examples, 21 y/o Playboi Carti:
22 y/o Pastor Troy
25 y/o Rich The Kid
25 y/o T.I.
I don’t advocate giving away free product. Rhymes are not drugs. Rhymes are your intellectual property.2 verse songs should be for mixtapes
Mostly referring to solo artist songs, but this has also been the case even for groups. Seems like songs get shorter and shorter as time goes on. That old traditional format of 3 verses + 3-4 hooks seems rare.
Again lmaoLooks like it's more apparent now than more than ever lol
