Are NBA First Round playoff series the easiest thing to predict in sports?

3 of the last 6 years an 8 seed has taken down a 1 (gs over the mavs, grizz over the spurs, sixers over the bulls)
one of these was due to rose's injury too

now how many years out of last 6 (cherry picked stat btw) were there #1 seeds taken down in other sports ?

its happened zero times in college basketball, which has already been pointed out, and also zero times in the nfl since the 1 seeds dont play a first round game

its the same sport (bball) and college for the first one....

and the nfl thing is a technicality. once you get to divisionals where #1 seeds DO play, plenty of #1 seeds have gone down.

Not just the first round the nba is the most predictable league in the playoffs by far..Teams never come out of nowhere to win it all like other sports..

true everyone had the mavs raising the banner last season

They came out of nowhere to win it all winning 57 games?I know they werent expected to beat the Heat but lets not make em into Hoosiers..

The fact that its considered such a huge upset in the nba because a few years out of its history the actual favorite didnt win shows you how chalk and predictable the league usually is..

A huge upset to win it all is the Cardinals coming from 10 games down in the wildcard and needing a epic Braves collapse and help the last day of the regular season to make it to the playoffs..

A 57 win mavs team winign a title is only a huge upset in nba terms because the teams with the best player or two usually wins it all 98% of the time anyway

My point is it happens in the nba way less then the other leagues..

Yeah, but comparing the different sports in the first places is pointless.

If the NBA had the NFL's one-and-done format, there would be regular upsets. And baseball is just an entirely different animal, even in a 7 game series luck plays a much larger factor than it ever will in basketball.

I agree, i never said those werent some of the reasons the the fact remains the nba is by far the most predictable league which was the point..

Pretty much. People act like they have to come in here and 'defend' the NBA like the league is being criticized when I even stated that I like the fact that the best team usually wins. Over the course of seven games, it's all proven on the court. In baseball you can run into a hot pitcher that can control the entire game and in hockey.. same thing with the goalie. All sports have their differences but the NBA is in my view the easiest to predict which is the point of the thread.

I agree except its why i put the nba playoffs last out of the major 4 sports..it's almost like watching a movie and knowing the ending already..

I prefer palyoffs where anyhting can happen and each tema in it has at least a shot to get hot and win it all..

Theyre's a few teams in the 2nd round of the playoffs in the nba who have no shot to win a title..

I guess - but this year isn't a great example of that. I feel San Antonio, LA, OKC , Miami and maybe Boston all have a chance to win it all. There's never that many teams competing for the title.

Not a negative thread. I don't mind the idea of the best team winning over the course of seven games and the NBA doesn't have a hot goalie or a hot pitcher that can swing a series. You have the rare occasion where a team like Chicago loses their best player and deals with other injuries and they lose to an inferior team but for the most part you know the 8 teams that are advancing. Even last night, LA was expected to win and did. They blew a nice lead but they pulled it together when it mattered most. NBA teams rarely lose a game seven at home with notable exceptions such as Memphis just now but that was a 4/5 series.

Honorable mention: Floyd Mayweather. :takedat:

Then why aint yo coli cash reflecting that :stopitslime:
