Are financial constraints ruining action movies that need to use CGI unlike in 90s/Early 2000s?

you are confusing stunts with special FX

yes action scenes look better when you have actual stunt people doing them

but has far as special effects CG blows practical effects out of the water depending on what type of movie

key word in practically effects is practically, if the movie is grounded in realism there's no need for cgi you can make it look real by using real props

Terminator and movies like that look like shyt now, the new terminators look like shyt simply because they did a terrible job on the cgi

however, even though they are shytty movies, the transformers movies have excellent cgi

the cgi storm troopers look better than the real stromtroopers because storm trooper armor is not practical, it is not something that could possibly be used in real life with any type of functionality, and they LOOK LIKE COSTUMES not real armor

jurassic park cgi looks bad, but so does puppet dinosaurs, you can tell its fake

people like star wars because of nostalgia, none of that shyt holds up, the costumes, the models, it was good for its time, it looks like shyt now
the cgi yoda looked better than the puppet which you can easily tell is a puppet

the quality of cgi depends on the skill level and the money spent

I think the 90s and early 2000s made such GOAT action films because their CGI was so shytty that they kept using actual props and set pieces and not graphics...

And the thing about CGI is that over time, it looks worse and worse BECAUSE CGI just gets better and better.

Theres no way to make physical props look better...they're just as good as you make them. CGI improvements just keep doing things you didn't imagine because you dont know any better until a few years later.

EDIT: found an article discussing this:
For me, CGI just looks cartoonish...It takes away from the savagery of violence...

I love movies like Valhala Rising and Drive and similar movies that are "simple" but graphic...The violence seems realer than watching X men or Iron man..

Oh, and don't get me started on digital shooting. Film is still goat.
Tarantino says the same thing.... digital destroys the magic.. because when you break it down.. film is just moving pictures.. you are not watching live action at all.. just series of pictures being moved at a high rate

when you have digital... that's live action... and something is lost in that.. and the movies start looking "too real" then you take too real... and add in completely fake effects.... and there you have it

star wars is the perfect example.... watching the original trilogy and then watching the new set.... the old ones still LOOK and feel better... not even counting the story

You could tell the animatronic dinosaurs in Jurassic Park weren't real dinosaurs? You're a genius breh.

I will say though, truly great CGI makes possible imagery that would otherwise go unmade.

E.g. Life Of Pi or Gravity.
Haven't watched these at home even though i own them. Don't own a 3D TV and i feel it added so much to those

if anything most movies use too much cgi, honestly one of the best sci fi films of all time, star wars and the empire strikes back used no cgi

it can be done

When it first came out it didn't but times have change, that shyt don't look good at all, cgi is obviously superior

it's just only few movies have great cgi

the transformers looked real the jurassic park dinosaurs don't

that was the whole point, why you butt hurt, just stating obvious facts
