Yeah, this forum is not objective at all. I didn't like Witcher 3 but I cannot deny the quality of the game.
The true King
People are going to vote for THEIR GOTY. What would be the point of a "Vote for the GOTY as decided by the total tally of GOTY votes by the overall number of GOTY awards given by gaming journalists and reviewers" thread?Yeah, this forum is not objective at all. I didn't like Witcher 3 but I cannot deny the quality of the game.
Fallout 4 got kinda boring to me, hell at this point I might just wait on a steam sale for this shyt. I didn't even get past the 8 hour mark on the xbox
Because in typical video game journalism the award of game of the year goes to a game after having played all other games in the running. On the coli, the award should be FGOTY "Favorite Game Of The Year".People are going to vote for THEIR GOTY. Ok?Because in typical video game journalism the award of game of the year goes to a game after having played all other games in the running.
You boys gotta decide for once and for all how much these numbers actually mean to you. One day they don't mean anything, next they're the gospel truth. Don't get me started on the piss poor games that got high ratings and the dope games that got trashed for no reason.Ok?
I don't think this needs an explanation. This "You must have played everything " criteria is arbitrary. Not everyone will have time to finish EVERY game that came out that year and also "every game in the running" is also determined by the particular person who created the poll's opinion. Notice how there's games missing from the poll like:On the coli, the award should be FGOTY "Favorite Game Of The Year".

There's so many games missing from that list and all of the above were critically acclaimed games scoring 80-90 on Meta.
I don't get this post. If you didn't like the Witcher 3, you can deny it being the best game of the year. I not gonna vote for Witcher 3 just because it resonated with the most people this year. I can recognize it was the best game that most people loved, but it's not the best game as for as Im concerned.Yeah, this forum is not objective at all. You completely missed my point. My point was that a GOTY thread on here should be for YOUR GOTY, not what the popular consensus is around the internet. Liquid's post about this forums not being objective at all made no sense since it sort of implied that voting for something that was recognized as the GOTY across the internet's various gaming sites should be the right vote and anything else is just wrong somehow. You boys gotta decide for once and for all how much these numbers actually mean to you. One day they don't mean anything, next they're the gospel truth. Don't get me started on the piss poor games that got high ratings and the dope games that got trashed for no reason.
Exactly. People need to understand this when discussing things like "GOTY, GOTG" etc. It's like they want to say a game is dope, and then need authoritative confirmation that the game is dope. You can acknowledge and disagree. "Yes this game is recognized as the best thing since Jet Li but I don't really care for it.."I don't get this post. Counting up the critics tally doesn't really mean shyt anyways. Skyrim was by far the "GOTY 2011" based on votes, and I will tell you, objectively, Portal 2 and Dark Souls were better games.
I'm not using Bloodborne and Tomb Raider as an example. I'm saying people can't seem to decide whether they want to run with reviews or not. We're going in circles over something very pety though. I get it now. GOTY in the arcadium is just your personal favorite. I just wish people would comment that way instead of immediately getting defensive if some one says "Tomb Raider is better than Bloodborne" when they've played both and other people haven't.You completely missed my point. Liquid's post about this forums isn't objective at all made no sense becuase it sort of implied that voting for something that was recognized as the best GOTY across the internet's gaming sites should be the right vote and anything else is just stupid.
I then pointed off a list of games that were highly acclaimed and were missing from the list and you went on some rant about piss poor games with high ratings and dope games that got trashed with absolutely no examples.
Lemme guess, Bloodborne is the piss poor game with high ratings and Tomb Raider is the game that everybody's trashing right? What are these piss poor games with high ratings and amazing games everyone's hating?? Are we conflating people saying TR was flopping on Xbox One to people saying ROTR sucked?? Because I know you know that's not what people said. Stop conflating this, you KNOW that's not what people are saying.
Reviews are merely points of reference. One can disagree with a particular game's review because they felt like it otherwise wasn't that bad. Like take TO 1886: It's a pretty crappy game for $60 but for $20 or less?? I'd say it's a great game to play once, or maybe twice. In that sense, reviews would still be relevant but if the game is $10 then who gives a damn?? As for the TR thing, you seemed to categorically state that TR is in fact a better game than BB and that it's unfairly hated on and that people who say otherwise are inherently wrong yadda yadda. I mean yeah that's your opinion but then the way you worded it seemed like you were trying to deny the references and quality of BB, a game you didn't even finish. I made it clear from the get go that I think BB is a better game if we're going by reviews and whatnot but going off of that, the two games are completely different from each other so there's no point in even comparing the two. Saying "PS4 guys just mad" is silly because they could turn around and say "ya'll mad Bloodborne not on Xbox" and therefore any objections to BB being hailed as the GOTY is just fanboyism but that's like you said petty. I just want to play games. But not on Xbox thoughI'm not using Bloodborne and Tomb Raider as an example. I'm saying people can't seem to decide whether they want to run with reviews or not.
