Aquaman was just in a favorable situation. Black Panther showed the power of representation, Infinity War created a huge market that year for comic book films and the MCU left holiday 2018 empty that year for Aquaman to ride their wave. Aquaman got lucky.

The sequel being pushed back a whole year, is not exactly a ringing endorsement of any sustained popularity. We'll see what happens going forward. MCU is empty Christmas 23 again so who knows.

To my original point I'd like to see someone like Vixen make the jump to superstardom.

I like Jason Mamoa, but this franchise and Snyder's DCEU needed to be exposed. It was never anything special.

Edit - And I'm coming for that overrated "Joker" movie next.
