Depends. You should be honest though. If you have a mailing address in Houston (PO Box or friend's/relative's address), then you can try to use that.
If you can't show up to an interview ASAP, then that's going to sound suspicious. Because if you live there, then there would be no real reason to not be able to come to an interview the next morning. If you tell them the truth, then you can say, I can show up for an interview but it will have to be in the afternoon due to the drive time.

I'm fortunate so I set my own schedule. I've literally gone to work in the morning and then left to go to an interview.

Okay.
I've applied to out-of-town jobs in the past.
I put down my real address because there was no way I could travel over long distances in a moment's notice. Because they knew I lived a couple states away, so they knew I couldn't show up the next morning for an interview. Sometimes, I had to get an afternoon interview because of that.

My issue isn't as big as yours. I'm about 40 minutes from Chicago in Indiana, but some people keep that radius like 30 miles and under and I'm just outside of that threshold.

Oh. I've made huge moves. New York to Maryland was the biggest one. I didn't have money for a flight so I drove over 12 hours for a job interview.

Probably. . . I mentioned in the jobs thread that my wife is a recruiter and she has said one of the first things they look at is address.

Think about it. . . you've put in 40 applications. There are probably countless other people doing the same thing. Competition is fierce. There are many qualified people applying for jobs. What's the easiest way to disqualify candidates, besides lack of experience? Not living in the area. It's often a hassle hiring someone from outside the area for numerous reasons. You're putting yourself at a disadvantage.

Breh who wifey recruit for?

@Silkk i had the same situation last year

i moved to back to vegas from ny back in june 13. i made up the decision back in janruary 13 that i was getting the fuk outta ny. what i did was start reaching out to companies in vegas and eventually in may went there had interviews and locked up a apartment in 2 days. mind u when i actually moved to vegas, i didn't have a job and had 2k left in my account :snoop: as soon as i touched down in vegas on june 20 to be exact, i was hitting up every thing on craigslist that i knew i qualified for. also i knew vegas was busy as hell in the summer so, when i knew people were hiring.

i knew it would take time for me to get the job in the field i wanted but i took any job that was offered to me. exactly on july 4, i started orientation for pbx at a small hotel. by october i got the job i wanted in the field i majored in. depending on how bad u what to move, u gotta take a risk. houston is a better job market than most cities, shyt that is easy u actually got it better than me. if u quit your job today, moved to houston and can't get a job in the IT field within 30-60 days, then something is wrong with YOU my nikkka. u gotta make that power move.

So, iceberg in a new location, 15 miles closer to my destination (Chicago) I get an email today asking additional questions when I applied at like 1 in the morning. Mind you, I only get one email in the previous two years that I use my legit address to this company.

Obviously, this is just one instance but already starting the ball rolling towards some shyt and seeing that my legit address causes some fukkery against me.
