I must've put in like 40 apps in houston last week and didn't 1 call, but i put in some in my own town and instantly get calls and emails.

Should i just put it down as if i'm already a houston resident when applying or what?

I'm on the job hunt starting April. :birdman: ..............

cosign what ppl said about putting a local address on your resume.

i also read online that if you have a linkedin profile, change your location to whatever city you're targeting and to tell the people in your network that you're moving there. some people may be able to connect you to someone in that city.

I never setup a linked in profile

I heard you had to pay for the premium portion of the site

I've had some thoughts about this as well. I live in Northwest Indiana, about 30-40 minutes from Chicago. In Chicago, that's where the money is, I put my residence as Indiana and I get hardly anything. I think I should invest in a PO Box or just straight up lie and give a Chicago address to see what is popping. Of all of the interviews I do ask, they ask about the commute so there must be something to it. I have credentials as I have an MBA, work in my field with the MBA and I teach college courses with that same MBA. So, they just might be tripping on the address. I'm about to say I live in MJ's own residence :mjlol:so nikkas can hire me. For real though, I need to see what's good with a Chicago address :jawalrus:

If you don't have a linkedin profile you are hustling backwards, you can just sit there and the jobs will come to you cuz recruiters are all over linked in, the premium account isn't necessary or important

your profile is your resume, and there is a Jobs menu option at the top

i would also start using dice.com if you havent already
I've been using dice. How do i discern between getting calls from recruiters in Houston vs recruiters in Baton Rouge?

thats up to you, you have to decide which one you want to focus on, but you can always talk your out of it either way by saying your linkedin is outdated

Depends. You should be honest though. If you have a mailing address in Houston (PO Box or friend's/relative's address), then you can try to use that.
If you can't show up to an interview ASAP, then that's going to sound suspicious. Because if you live there, then there would be no real reason to not be able to come to an interview the next morning. If you tell them the truth, then you can say, I can show up for an interview but it will have to be in the afternoon due to the drive time.
