I must've put in like 40 apps in houston last week and didn't 1 call, but i put in some in my own town and instantly get calls and emails.

Should i just put it down as if i'm already a houston resident when applying or what?

Probably. . . I mentioned in the jobs thread that my wife is a recruiter and she has said one of the first things they look at is address.

Think about it. . . you've put in 40 applications. There are probably countless other people doing the same thing. Competition is fierce. There are many qualified people applying for jobs. What's the easiest way to disqualify candidates, besides lack of experience? Not living in the area. It's often a hassle hiring someone from outside the area for numerous reasons. You're putting yourself at a disadvantage.

I agree, when do you think would be the best time to inform them that i'm not a resident or just just let it play out? Cause of course i'd have to schedule for the face to face interview

A lot of places actually have software that filters out resumes if the listed zip code is too far away. In this economy most companies aren't trying to pay anybody to relocate. My suggestion would be to either -

1. Get a P.O. Box or something in the state where you want to work and use that as the address, or -
2. If you have a friend/family member that lives in the area, use their address on the resume

Just get a local po box or actually a postal annex or something cuz then you get a real address not a po box number, and don't say anything, if they ask just say you moved down a couple of weeks ago

If it doesn't come up, I'm not sure you'd have to. Just make sure you're free to make travel arrangements on short notice. Also come up with a realistic personal time frame for how long it would take for you to relocate. Typically, an employer might give you up to a month to make the transition, although I'd be prepared for sooner. Renting would make it much easier than buying.

If it comes up, my wife said if someone shows some personal connection like "I've been looking into moving here because I have family here", that's as good as living there to her, as long as you don't expect relocation expenses.

customer support and network support, our company doesnt have an IT person, they contract it to this guys company, so the company handles basically everything from network support to repairing and maintaining computers, if we have any type of computer or network problem we just call them and they fix it over the phone or come in physically
