No company will go for this when you have morons willing to pay $1,000-$1,500 YEARLY.

The drop will have to be dramatic for it to happen and even then not likely. It’s the new desktop/laptop industry to keep selling products with marginal upgrades.

The costs to research, design, create and market a new phone uesrly might be outweighing he idiots who buy said phone every year.

Not reporting sales means they are close to breaking even or worse. There isnt a comoany in the world that doesnt brag about huge sales numbers. When they stop then something is wrong. So it may be in their best interest to peel back a bit.

They taking the approach Microsoft does with Xbox. Increase revenue by selling multiple services to the same existing user base without actually giving them new content:mjlit:. I seen this coming years ago and never invested into the Apple/IOS eco system because of it.

Has nothing to do with sales. They reported like 20% revenue growth so phone sales mean nothing. They are making serious cash...

Warren Buffett likes quarterly earnings reports from companies but not guidance
The revenue is growing because they raise the cost of phones constantly. As they raise their prices less people buy the phones annually. They carried the core design on the iPhone 6 for 4 years till the iPhone 8. They're getting more out of less.

At the same time phone sales from year to year are less and less and it doesn't serve them to report we're selling less phones. It was why Microsoft stopped reporting Xbox hardware sales yet Sony still does. They only want to report what's favorable to them.

Apple shot themselves in the foot. You need to upgrade but every 3 or 4 years because they are not innovative.
I've never been able to get a phone to last that long. Problem is these are devices we constantly use everyday and most probably prefer also surf the web on their phone as its more convenient then whipping out a lap top or packing a tablet around. Phones have huge wear/tear issue because of the constant use. No way paying $1200 for a phone is even reasonable. Add that to the fact that cheap phones now have adequate performance. I paid $130 for my phone and I couldn't be happier. It's powerful enough to run the latest apps and that's all that matters. Camera is 13mp too wich is decent enough. You nolonger need to pay hundreds of dollars to get a decent performing phone with decent features.

Console sales are very different. Apple is actually leading the way with a trillion market cap.. They are making profit and that's all that matters.

They might be but they're selling less phones and it's not flattering to them to report that. The Chinese phone makers sell more and more phones in comparison. At some point the bubble burst on how much they can raise the price on their devices to compensate for the reduction in sales. At another point the constant raising of prices will expedite the reduction in sales.

Think of it like the problem cable TV faces. Less people subscribe to cable so providers raise the rates which causes less people to subscribe. Cable TV has already crossed the threshold that Apple has yet to cross where the price is so high now it's going into a death spiral and competing products are now more attractive to some.

Apple can't keep raising the price of iPhones indefinitely. There has to be another solution.
