In absolute majority of the world mobile phones are not subsidized.

64 gig iPhone costs $1.100 across Europe and in Brazil 16 gig 4S (one and a half year old phone) is $850.

In Russia 16gig iPhone 5 costs $1k. And if you want 64gig one -

Poor peasants can't buy iPhone. You have to be a fukking loser not to be able to afford it in the US though.

I don't know where you're getting your data from, but phones are a commodity and their prices are similar across the globe. I bought my unlocked i5 16 gig here in Pakistan for $680 in February and its $649 on the Apple Store today.

I like iphones over android devices but is the knock on Samsung really that its plastic? thats not even that big of a deal

I think the fact that my friends have to walk around with extra batteries while my 2 year old iphone still keeps a charge most of the day is a bigger deal

Does your phone still have the frame around it?

I actually have the plastic Galaxy S (my first Android) and it is still working well with minimal damage to its body.

I think the issue with plastic is that it feels and looks cheap. If people are shelling out hundreds of dollars then they want a premium look and feel.

That is what it boils down too.

Also, I really don't see the point of this thread. Rhoddigy's thread starting abilities need to be stripped.
