I just finished watching it. At first I felt it was bit of a standard occult thriller with some vague horror elements but it really came together for me in the second half when Evans turns it all into something more deeply disturbing, a deranged fight between religion and old mythos. Brehs with a love for (or even better, a belief in) the occult and paganism will really dig this, and I feel almost obliged to tag @Mr. Negative and @MikeBarnes because I know they love their fair share of the stuff.

Either way Evans certainly shows here he is more than just an action director with some beautiful cinematography and great suspense building, although in the small bursts of violence you can see every shade of the man who gave us The Raid. Dan Stevens is every bit as mad and psychotic as he is in Legion, sometimes almost to a fault, but the rest of the cast rounds out the movie pretty well. You do feel the length of the film but it's one where its payoff certainly justifies the path it took to get there.

Crazy we got 28 replies to this thread and a sticky, but seemingly very few people who have actually watched this yet.

Besides the setting, this was a meh movie throughout. A meandering film that leads to nowhere and has an unsatisfying ending. There were no twists or surprises with the plot.

A good story/premise is buried somewhere, but this was not the film that brought it out. Pretty easy to see why this one went straight to Netflix instead of theaters.
