shyt here in Mobile, we had a white Republican mayor candidate throw a blues and bbq party right before the election to get the black vote. Mind you, his opponent was a black man, and it was a sense of “this is what you do to get black votes? Bbq and Mel Waiters?” Not to mention he worked as the CFO of a company that has been poisoning the Africatown community (featured in the Netflix documentary Descendant) with pollution from the paper mill and his family owns the majority of the land that is considered a low income high crime community.
