I watched a documentary on Mussolini and I'm not lying or exaggerating when I say, Trump even took that dudes mannerisms. But a lot of the people they interview in this doc who supported him admit that a lot of their support of him was just the "excitement" and in retrospect question why they supported him. They mention a lot of them were "Bewitched" by him and mention how he made them feel more than policies or political ideas. Trump exploited the same phenomenon. But people feel stating this plainly is too simple and dismissive. They can't really sit and have drawn out conversations about that because to beat that, there isn't a policy or argument you can present to change their mind. You have to have someone who can make them "feel" better than the other candidate. That is harder to come by for democrats since Obama and Bill.
