I almost went and copped a Renaissance this weekend. I looked into the software and downloaded the demo, upgraded to 1.8...it's pretty legit to me it seems. Im tryin not to be a stan but I really like the layout and workflow. As I have done research I'm seeing a lot of people like it as well but like Maschine's program more.

I know I don't want the studio (the cheaper of the two hardwares) I kind of just want a Ren so I can use the software and just use my midi controller with it (I dont really care about banging the pads and using the knobs and such) but I would end up utilizing it with the program.

Anyone here ever own the MPC Renaissance or MPC Studio and use the akai software? Did yall like it? Do ya'll hate it?

I think i'm just sticking with Fruity Loops.
Had people telling me it's actually kinda easier for sampling than the Ren.

Thats the thing though, I dont plan on sampling with it...

What keyboard are you using with it?
I have a Roland SH-201 synthesizer. It works as a midi controller for Reason, FL, MPC 4000, etc

So are you producing mostly in the MPC software . . or something else?

I want to have a solid secondary production tool right now I use my mpc 4000 but if I want to use software I'll bounce between FL and reason. Having been tinkering with akai software I'm really enjoying it but to own an unlocked version you need to purchase the ren or the studio. The demo allows you to use everything for 10 minutes then has some reoccurring white noise then you can close and reopen, I just ignore it and keep going

If you aren't sampling then get Maschine. The crossgrade to Komplete and Komplete products is always worth it. I would wait until after october 1st before copping. Mashine went on sale last october and Akai is rumored to announce Mpc 1.9 or 2.0

I have the ren and studio! I use the studio when im away from my lab and it works great. I can come home and load up what i made in the renaissance. I chose the ren because im come from a MPC backround. If i were to recommend something it would be maschine. Native instruments is just a better company and they know there software way better than akai! although MPC wins hands down with the best sequencer. I just copped the komplete kontrol keyboard from NI and i love it. But yeah, just like @Wally Russell said, theres rumors of a new joint being announced next month. I got very little inside info from someone i wont name but akai isnt the only company thats gonna drop a new groovebox so i would wait until the NAMM show in january which i will be attending. Until than Ill still be using the ren/studio (MPC 1000 as well) but you never know what the future holds lol. I honestly dont have room for another big groovebox but if a new standalone drum machine the size of the 1000 gets released by any of these companies than IM COPPIN.
