A few horror movies I've seen over recent years have been:

"Dread", "High Tension", "Grace", "Martyrs", "Lars Von Trier's Antichrist", "The Descent", "Inside", "The Mist", and "[REC]".

Not saying all of these are classic but horror is alive and well, it's just mostly moved overseas.

Dope flick, the home video scenes, especially the lawnmower one, had me :whew:

Dope thing about Insidious is that it was one of the few horror movies where:

the family actually moved out of a haunted house.

Sinister never really got 'clever' with the story, in fact it kind of got dumbed down as soon as those kids started running around in the house. It had more potential than that.

Still dope movie.

:obama: ....props for your opinion.

I definitely agree with you, it did have some flaws...but still, when i compare this shyt to theatrical horror thats coming out...i think it was pretty good :takedat:

Im not saying it was scary (though I wont lie, some of it was a little unsettling...but thats not the same as scary)...but I think the overall story was pretty dope...and its precisely the reason i think DTV horror is killing theatrical horror for the past few years....to see a theatrical horror flick with an at least decent story was refreshing

Respect mayne :myman:

Yeah, it was definitely pretty good but it pisses me off because the premise and the way it started...this joint could have been one of the most memorable horrors ever. The story was completely original but like someone said above, they kinda dumbed the story down as they progressed. When I hear that the cats who put out Insidious put this out also though, it kinda makes sense. Insidious overreached on the plot in the second half and I think Sinister underreached.

I really wanna check the recent Silent Hill flick, I heard that it was really well done despite being a 3d flick (usually that spells doom). I think something else that's killing the theatrical horror genre though is the lack of any new iconic horror characters. Jigsaw was the last one and that loses points for being a doll that really isn't anything but an avatar. Leatherface, Chuckie, Michael Myers, Jason, and Freddie...You showed up for the bad guy more than the good guys back in the day. Now horror movies can't be identified by the evil "character" because it's almost always a "force" or something that's behind the shyt. I'd take the Wishmaster over Paranormal Activity flicks just on principle of the Wishmaster series being creative as hell with how he killed people instead of shaking pots and pans for the first fourty five minutes.

The home movies were the best part to me, very well done (the lawnmower is the most disturbing one, completely agree there) with the grainy texture and that creepy looped warped music that would play. The final act seemed rushed to me, they argue about moving, they stay, 5 minutes later the attic scene then they move back to their original home, climatic scene, end movie.
