Both could do it. People sleep on Will Smith's acting ability, but if you've ever seen Six Degrees Of Seperation, Ali, or even I Am Legend he definitely has what it takes.

Having said that Jamie embodied the role extremely well. Perfect performance

Just seen it, it was definitely some c00n shyt. It was a good movie but what was the fukking point of making a movie set in slavery era. But the only reason they actually use slavery was to setup the villain / hero dynamic and impossible rescue mission. I feel like I just watched taken meets kill bill and somebody said fukk it let's set this in the slave era to be different . I see why nikkas said fukk this role. They could have made this movie in any time setting and it would have still have been good.
