Good skit:ehh:

Funnily enough my Father checked in and called me yesterday. I am not the most forgiving person and I don't think every problem can be solved. There is unspoken tension, mainly from my side. He was harsh on me as a child and the reason I have an emotional wall but he has mellowed out drastically in old age. I have three older brothers and two older sisters, so maybe there was never as much urgency to maintain a close relationship between me and my parents, they had Grandkids by the time I hit double figures.

It's all good bro.

My pops stole a whole damn house from me. That property is now worth 100,000+ $. I got it in an auction for 1,600$ in 2013 smh.

Me & my dad didn't have a good relationship until I started working. He would get up the same time as me (4:30am), to go to work. While I finished about 1200 he wouldn't come home until after 9pm.

When he was dying of cancer, I spent everyday with him. He talked to me about his childhood, being captured in the Biafra war, being beaten half to death, poisoned by one of his dad's wives and about women. It was only then that I understood why he was cold and distant to me. He didn't know any better.

I miss that man.

I see this alot with the older generation of black fathers. They have a hard time opening up and showing any vulnerability. Hope the brehs on here who are fathers break the cycle. Or is that some soft shyt? :russ:

I can tell bill Burr probably wrote this sketch lol

But yea.... That's the way it is. We men nikka lol

They crazy thing is every dude I know is real vulnerable around me. They tell me everything even pop duke
Probably cause I'll say any fckin thing about myself no matter how embarrassing

I had a different experience.
My dad is super talkative. loves it.
In fact i can tell when he is on the road or somewhere where people aren't around for him to talk to because he'll ring me.
he don't listen to radio on road trips, he just calls everybody he knows and talks the whole time. So he'll ring me up, when we're done, he might call his friend Tony, or my Uncle.

Does he talk about whats going on with him? Or just about sports and cars the whole time?

Oh we definately talk alot about sports and cars. He also the one that put me on to comics as a kid so talk a bunch about dc and marvel stuff.
He likes to keep me updated with the goings on of friends and family.
And we talk health, you make sure you getting regular check ups. People in our fam have weak hearts dont smoke that type of stuff. Never talk about feelings or anything much though unless somebody died and we’re concerned about whoever was left behind and how they are handling it.

Funny as hell and on some real shyt. I popped up on my Dad for some reason 3 weeks before he passed. I was 28 at the time and had never really kicked it with him as an adult. Especially with me living in California and him back home in Dallas. We drank and smoked cigarettes all night just talking about any and everything and in a round about way it was him apologizing for not being present in my life ( he was a great provider tho), but he told it through his hilarious story telling. And I got it and promised I'd come back to visit more often. But he passed 3 weeks later of a simple abscess in his mouth that he was complaining about while I was there. Simple antibiotics would've knocked it right out. I was with him for 2 days I went and filled up his refrigerator with groceries, we cooked, ate, drank beer. I'll always have that moment especially with the way I just chose to fly home randomly and was able to capture those moments. I was the last of his 4 children to see him before he passed. Like it was written, all my sisters had a bigger relationship with him due to proximity so they saw him all the time. But me, the only son catching him 3 weeks before he died was surreal.
Damn cuz this made a crip tear up :mjcry:
