Tried. Anime songs usually have crazy 4 on the floor beats...interested in seeing other people's work though

Depends on which ones you do. I haven't made a beat in a few months but that was pretty much what I was on.

Pretty good.
I've been trying to work with this one...haven't gotten anything to show for it yet though :yeshrug:

Indeed. It truly is what you make out of it though. I've heard samples where the beat is more or less just laid there for you and people mess it up doin all sorts of dookie. But yeah they are gold mines

That usually happens when people think too hard about what they're trying to accomplish, instead of just letting their creative juices flow naturally. They tend to over-complicate things in an attempt to express a complex idea(s). The trick is to be creative, yet remain simple. There are ways to express complex ideas through simplicity. Simplicity goes a long way in Hip-Hop.

I personally haven't yet, but I have sampled other cartoons. I did a flip of the Adventure Time themesong in my early days, so the mix is rough.

I like to use cartoons for vocal samples more than the music in them, but that could definitely change at any time.

I'll also toss in that MF DOOM sampled Dragon Ball Z back in his days as King Geedorah.

The beat:

yep, been sayin this for years.
Stupid beatmakers think they creative just because they make choppy beats.
IMO it's more creative to loop and add your own synths on top of that and make it sound musical.

IMO Honestly it depends. You can make a choppy beat but you gotta just know when it's overkill. lol That's the problem most people have, they don't have an ear to make them just say "Nah this ain't workin b"

I'm guilty of this sometimes. It's not really making a complex idea in my case it's just an attempt to make sure the listener won't get bored. I'm not trying to have people all in the comments like "Yo b I got tired of this after the first minute"

That song isn't sampled, or even an interpolation for that matter. The guy (Bruce Faulconer) that composed the original theme said so himself. When I (personally) asked Shawty Redd about it, he also confirmed that he didn't sample/interpolate the record. He said he just played those chords, 'cause that's how he was feeling (emotionally) at the time. People think it's sampled, because the pads sounds eerily similar, but for the record, Shawty Redd's version is a Roland Fantom preset. I've even made a beat using that same sound. If you listen closely, Pikkon'z Theme is composed of manipulated/tweaked organs. "You Know What It Is" is composed of a pad.

Edit: whosampled.com has it listed as a sample as well, but they got it wrong.
