So far I think the album is cool. But in general, I'm not all that enamoured with this new futuristic sound in hip hop. I know that's just me being an old nikka though, so I don't hold it against the new young artists, it's there time to shine.

But I do prefer music/production like Game's Doctor's Advocate or shyt that Gangsta Gibbs raps on, or classic southern production like Krit makes, & smooth shyt Curren$y spits on a whole lot more.

yea the album is kinda lukewarm to me. Need to give it a couple more spins to fully judge. As far as comparing it to the Documentary :comeon:, not even close. Documentary>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

shyt is a little better than lukewarm to me, but I agree with you for the most part. I'm a Lamar fan, but this isn't quite to the standard I was expecting from the young brother.

This album isn't in the same stratosphere as the Documentary, but there isn't any shame in that imo. There arent more than ten major releases in the last seven or eight years that are better than the Documentary to me.

You and 99% of this site and general society are neither so why does it matter:aicmon:

why do you assume what you do not know friend

and it matters bc 99% if rappers including kendrick try so hard or want to be accepted by them. alot of his songs talk about hanging with the homies and gangbangers. Im sure kendrick wants those guys on his block to feel and enjoy the music he puts out. so it does matter

Even if by the slimmest margin you are an actual dealer and not a 15 year old kid typing up fantasies it doesn't make what you said anymore valid. Most of society isn't hustlers and dealers so using them as the basis for what is good and what isn't doesn't make sense to me.

Its a solid album. Good lyrics, good production, good concept. It doesnt suck, but its not what people on here are hyping it up to be. Im from the west too, but everything has to be put into perspectives. I have to listen to it all the way through a few more times. Coli posters are clowns bro. nikkas hype up everything when it comes to they favorite rapper.

Still not wild about his voice/delivery, but it's a solid album. Found it easier to get into than Section 80, but that may just be me adjusting to his sound more than anything.

My gripe with Kendrick and some of these new cats is that they are lyrical. No doubt about it. But at the same time, they have zero mic presence, swag, charisma. Kendrick is no different.

A$AP Rocky has the total package though
