Lets be honest, Game isnt "lyrical" like Lamar in the technical sense but no can deny that Documentary had more heat than GKMA.

Its not all about the lyrics. Thats what Im trying to get at.

It seems alot of people just listen to albums these days checking for lyrics and when they get that, its a wrap for them.

Classic

Runnin :to: (Best track)
We Ain't :lawd:
Dont need your love :ohlawd: (Havoc on the beat!!!)
Church for Thugs :dj2:
Where I'm From (:rip: to my nikka Nate. fukkin banger)
Don;t Worry

To be fair though, Dre and Interscope aint what they used to be. Game had a much better machine behind him with Shady/Aftermath. Oddly enough the only track I've ever skipped on the Doc is Higher which you said is one of the best

My nikka if you have time upload it so I can download at work and put on my phone. I need to listen right now.

People want to see a classic. As an 80's baby I know what it feels like to hear Paid in Full, Illmatic, The Chronic, Doggystyle, Enter the Wu-Tang, Southernplayalistic..., etc on release date and know that the album was classic off the jump. It really does feel like your apart of something greater. The rap game has been so stale for the last couple of years that anything that even remotely can provide this feeling is give the ultra boosters. I mean really, last month people where hyping up that Lupe trash as classic.

Here's the thing

A lot of Coli posters are homosexual. I mean there is a fukkin ton of them on here. Look at the frank ocean thread or some of the stuff that gets posted outside the booth. LIG is dikkrode on here bc at its core it's an anti woman themed LP. So non threatening soft rappers like Kendrick fit right in to what's popular on this board

2- lots of west coast posters, west hasn't been relevant in almost a decade so they are really thirsting and will latch on to any MC That gives them hope of relevancy

3- a lot of headphone revolutionaries on here. That is why rappers like Kendrick and lupe get so much love on the Internet as opposed to real life. Using SOHH logic this album will prolly flop bc it is loved online but the album has no club records or top 10 singles. Always remember this place is bizarro world

Conclusion - it's not a bad album at all and I applaud Kendrick for keeping it hip hop 100% and staying lyrical. He's not my cup of tea but he deserves success for not selling out and make an album his core audience will enjoy

The blame has to placed on the posters throwing outlandish comments like "this is our generations illmatic". C'mon buddy. Go jerk off and re evaluate. I doubt this album will get burn from hustlers and dealers around hood USA like biggie or nas or snoop. That is the real litmus test. He is a smart mans rapper so very popular with the college crowd in here

But please stop overhyping this bc u are not doing this man any favors. It's a good album but let's please stop acting like this is some monumental event in hip hop

we are talking about Lupe and Kendrick or Reks and Elzhi?

Lupe and Lamar both have a lot of fans. I got white friends that dont even listen to rap like that blast The Cool all day.

maybe not in New York but you guys can be a$$holes sometimes.

yea the album is kinda lukewarm to me. Need to give it a couple more spins to fully judge. As far as comparing it to the Documentary :comeon:, not even close. Documentary>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Thats what Im trying to say.

When you use words like classic to describe an album like GKMC you are saying that its on the same level as Documentary

Come on people :why:

I know we're desperate but lets not degrade true classics to elevate albums that are decent at best

I'd call it solid piece of work. not classic or anything like that. I say the middle part of the album from songs 7-10 is more of the stuff I'd liked to have seen on it
