I had my ticket to be there the first week of May but I had to cancel after they removed the mask mandates.

I've been to Africa multiple times and it's true Egypt is a beast when it comes to hassle. Fact of the matter is if youre street smart you can parlay those hassling interactions into unique experiences.

Number one "la la" is your friend. No thanks doesn't work. These mafukkers been around since the dawn of time. Even the poorest of hustlers speaks 5 languages.

Second. If you are staying Cairo stay in zamalek or new Cairo. The city is certainly intense but incredible.

The food guy is right pigeon is fukking bomb. I'd actually recommend eating it on one of the famous fallucas.

Also in regards to baksheesh or tip. You are gonna need baksheesh like a mother fukker. Either carry Egyptian pounds but they nasty as hell. Instead spend 80 bucks and get a carton of smokes from duty free. All Egyptians smoke and you can grease hands with American butts. Most of them smoke Cleopatra's which is pretty much has to the face. They'll gladly accept that.

Also in regards to pictures and filming...white boy in food video didn't grease palms therefor delete footage. They will get the police involved over pics. Most places require extra ticket to shoot. Just throw buddy a couple smokes and he'll give you ticket for free

Do not try to uber or rent a car. As a tourist you need to do everything with a tour guide. You're not going to be able to get by on uber's and tourists shouldn't drive there at all because of the style of driving. There are literally no traffic lights. Theres alot of police and military check points which are there to protect the sites and the language barrier will work against you. You also need permits to visit certain parts and the tour guides and companies will already have that situated

I never exchange money at the airport, I just withdraw money from the ATM and get Egyptian pounds that way. I'm sure there's an exchange there
