It was more tolerable when they were contained only to the summer.

But the past few years they have been year round.

3 alone from end of April to May.

I still haven't seen solo and Jurassic world 2 looks ass.

My last 3 trips to the theater have been First Reformed, Hereditary and Upgrade.

Is it just me?

While I wouldn't say I'm sick of them yet I don't like the direction we are headed.

It's getting worse. Imagine if Disney does get FOX and does what they've been doing since Iger has been in charge. As in,only interested in 4 quadrant blockbuster's and kids films.

But,I could see people getting sick of it and the rise of frankly more interesting films again.

I feel like people's tastes in films run parallel to general happiness and the "mood" of people. The less happy people are the more likely they're to want their films to be fun, easy escapism. The world is deeply unhappy right now,and so it's what's popular now. People's lives are depressing so they seek out comfort. Nobody wants to go to the movies and feel bad or think.

The happier people are the less they care about films fitting into that box.

Or if you don't buy into that you can go with tastes run in cycles and eventually a new cycle will begin.:manny:

That's the way I look at it.

They are but it's exhausting when they come out every weekend now

*shrugs*

It's not like the other movies aren't also coming out. So they're not coming out in replacement of them like that IMO, just that the attention is shone on them harder. If you don't want to watch it, just don't. Not like it's being forced to watch them. I certainly don't watch every blockbuster movie that comes out, nor would I suggest to anyone to do the same. Hell, I barely watch any of them, just a few here and there, mainly comic book types or interesting sci-fi ones. I might go to the theaters 6 times a year (edit, or rather see 6 different movies at the theater, as some movies I like enough will get a repeat viewing or two), at the most. There's certainly some none epic/blockbuster type of movies that'll come out that have my interest, but most of the time, they can wait for video. Occasionally I'll see one of those if interest is high enough. Plenty of blockbuster films I feel I can wait on as well or don't even have my interest at all.

My only "gripe" with the rampant blockbuster movies is that a. removes the previous blockbuster film outta IMAX too quickly and b. that only blockbuster movie types are relegated to IMAX style theaters. The latter is quite understandable tho due to how money, marketing and demand works. Same with the former actually. I just ultimately wish that there were more IMAX style theaters to go around. Obviously that too, is due to money, as that'd just be too expensive to warrant big ass, high quality screens for small ass movies. I just always wish that the best of quality in pretty much all technology was the standard, rather than a premium.

Nope....

100’s of movies drop every year.

And it’s not like that the Get Outs, A Quiet Place, Sorry To Brother You, and etc type films has stopped or slowed up on their role outs.

Same for the Sicarios, John Wicks, and etc type films down to the comedy’s and dramas.

Plus if you’re a fan of 3D, IMAX or etc, who really trynna see Tag or Girls Trip in IMAX?:gucci:

No offense breh but if you only go 6 times a year you're a casual moviegoer.

I've seen 6 movies since the end of April. And there's users on here that go way more than I do.

I think Scott Mendelson at Forbes put it best. When every movie is special. No movie is special

I love good blockbusters but I'm maybe interesting in seeing 3 of them that come out from now until the end of the year.

Nah not really. Yeah we're getting a lot of them, at least once a month now, but there's no rule that says you have to see them. You can always find an arthouse theater or a second run theater playing older flicks, or special screenings of older flicks. I'd be tired of them if my job was to see every single one of them, then yeah maybe. But since it's not, I've got the choice to say "no thanks." There's stuff coming out in the next few months I won't see or at least don't plan on seeing, and then stuff I know I will.

This is another thing film critics write about that always strikes me as asinine, because of course they're tired of them; it's their damn job to see them and they have to sit through them whether they want to or not. So they project those feelings onto the rest of us when most people don't see every movie that drops.

Like @Dominic Brehetto said, I do have an issue with things becoming homogenized and formulaic, but I'll cross that road when we get to it. Right now, I've pretty much enjoyed whatever I've seen this year in terms of blockbusters
