Anyone else prefer Sicario: Day of the Soldado over the original?

Back in the DMV
Just finished rewatching and one thing really stuck out;

They took the 2 separate sequences from the 1st (bridge/border scene, and the Tunnel fight) and had to put that into the movie. Granted it was not the same, but still in the same vein. If that makes any sense.

I didn't care for the original. The sequel left me wanting more.

2nd one was complete trash and spent time on them two little boring-ass mexican kids. Only good scene off the top of my head was the one with the sign language. then got alejandro

Didnt they miss and shoot his jaw or something?

Anyway cartels usually dismember the corpse after execution also

Fukk no. Sicario is way more focused

Soldado had GOAT potential but tried to be too many things at once. The first 40 minutes is :wow: then the movie gets derailed by the babysitting sub plot

Coincidentally 2018 was the rise of all these babysitting subplots ruining shows and movies. I'm at the point now where I automatically tune out the moment I see a kid introduced in a story

Second one is like a hood bootleg classic. That just runs in the background.
on loop on a screen in some random trap.

The first one by a landslide and I really like em both.

You can tell the stark difference in direction from Denis Villanueve and the replacement.
