I remember they had some monthly pass my boy had gotten. we would chill and watch movies all the time one summer. me and my fan used to mess with video connection. they always seemed to get everything early before release. was a great feeling just going to the video store and picking up the latest film.

RIP to the entire brick and mortar rental industry...in elementary there was a lil local mom and pop joint I used to go and rent sh!t in the 16bit days...summers I lived in alabama I used to get my grandma to hit up Movie Gallery and rack up, they was like WCW to Blockbuster's WWF or some sh!t back in the day...they had the southeast terrority sewn up, but i think Blockbuster eventually ended up putting them out of business

Man those were the days. I came up on so much puff just by browsing, checking out the art cover and movie description. So many memories of me and my pops going to BB and looking for movies then bringing them back to the rest of the family like a successful hunt. :to:

hearing a new game came out, hoping it was new at blockbuster, trying to hide games behind other games so u can come back and get it later

or knowing its friday and renting new releases or horror movies and buying that bucket of popcorn and 2 dollar box of movie candy :ohlawd:

thats my childhood, breh :to:
Blockbuster was cool, but it never surpassed the swag of Erol's video with the signature movie cases with the red strip on the borders :wow:

Now something I forgot about (because I was too young to be responsible for this)
But back in the day, you had to pay for a membership to rental places. And I don't mean the maybe $5 fee they had about a decade ago
I'm talking this...

$60 for a lifetime membership? $60 back in those days was a lot more than $60 today :whoo:

When new shyt would come out, they had the little red 2 day rental thing...some used to be empty and motherfukkers would be PISSED:laugh: Then you would have to let that ride and go find some new thriller you never heard of that has a interesting cover. And they used to have a video game tournament in San Diego...for NBA Jam, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition. All of that shyt. The Asian kids would post up for that shyt in a heartbeat:laugh:
