That last part is something not discussed much. HIAC, MITB, EC, TLC, three of those are supposed to be used to close out feuds, not just be the concept to an entire PPV

I'm cool with Elimination Chamber as a PPV. It serves a purpose as a wrestler's last chance to go to WrestleMania. Plus, with the way they write storylines now, it's hard to get six people in this match at any point of the year. Having it be something they have to do if they want to compete at WM is an idea that always works.
I don't know why they decided to make MITB a PPV because they took away a match that gave multiple guys a spot on the card. It was a showcase match. It's not a big deal because the PPV has actually been good for the most part, but if they ever get rid of it and make the match exclusive to WrestleMania again, I won't be upset.
I don't know what the purpose is in having a PPV for HIAC or TLC. Never made sense. There have been about four or five HIAC matches worth talking about since 2008, and at least two of them weren't even at the PPV. That's sad.

Yeah I don't understand why they did this? They killed most of the gimmick matches making them into ppvs. It's also lazy as hell. Everything besides production form the wwe has seemed lazy since around 08 or 09 lol.

To expound on that point, it’s a true destination/bucket list event at this point and more geared to the stuff around the event. It’s no different than the NBA All-Star Game in that respect. And if you aren’t going, you are watching their network (or now Peacock), so they already have your money. There isn’t a need to make a compelling story for you.
It’s no longer about the show in terms of storylines, because they just have to generate enough interest from celebrities and nostalgia acts to grab casuals. Casuals don’t follow storylines. Create a moment that they can remember (or in WWE’s case, a moment they can pretend was amazing in WWE canon) and you’ll continue to have people want to be a part of it.
Year-round it’s a disjointed mess, and you would think they would put in extra work to make it right. It just only seems to happen when they catch lightning in a bottle (Daniel Bryan, Kofi Kingston). And now there are too many moving parts to hit a complete reset button, which adds to the disjointed nature and in turn leads to a lack of a build. The only goal is to get the desired result.
