Anyone else feel like they are outgrowing hip hop?

The constant drama, the negativity, the beef, the shooting, the killings. the fed cases.


Feels like this shyt has become a baston of negativity.

But maybe getting older is realizing that this is what hip hop ALWAYS WAS


From Biggie and Tupac to Jay and Nas to Fif and Ja Rule to Drake and Kendrick. and all the shootings beef jailtime, sleeping with baby mothers and court cases in between.


None of this shyt is new. This has always been happening. Maybe getting older is being able to be more cognizant of it. Also the fact that there has been a signicant drop in quality mainstream rap music makes it even more glaring.


The shenanigans is the show. at least back in the day we had some good tunes. Bet ya nikkas cant even name three Quando Rondo songs. But you can name three shootings tied to that nikka

I've outgrown that aspect of it. I listen to Christian Hip Hop and rappers rooted in soul, social activism, self-improvement, etc.

I also listen to fly, money getting, motivational music like Curren$y and Payroll Giovanni.

Yes to a degree I have stopped searching for new hip hop to listen to in the past few years

Mostly go back and listen to classics when I feel like it

That's for the young guns, not for the vets. I had my fun, it's time for them to have theirs.

In terms of the OG Rappers sub genre - not really saying much, stale production. Or worse yet they're trying to stay relevant with updated slang and fake trap beats.
