I really do feel bad for the people though. I've lost 3 relatives (distant) down there in all this. Literally lost...like they don't know where they are which = dead. I have an uncle who's a song writer of some noteriety and he done been told not to go back or else. So he don't go back.

Sinaloa along Interstate 15 between Estacion Don and Guamuchil from TCO activity. In one incident, on July 15, in Guasave, Sinaloa, between 35-40 armed commandos in at least ten vehicles ambushed a convoy of the Grupo Elite, Policía Ministerial del Estado (Special Forces - State Police) along Mexican International Highway 15, killing 12 officers who were escorting the Secretary of Public Security for the State of Sinaloa. The RSO in Hermosillo had identified this location as an area of concern due to the extreme violence. American Citizen Services (ACS) in Hermosillo had until this incident traveled regularly to Los Mochis and Guasave in northern Sinaloa to conduct prison visits of incarcerated American citizens, but these trips have been suspended indefinitely.

yeah they are and yeah they did. In a nutshell in the 80's columbia was mexico and mexico was america where smaller gangs in mexico were facilitating the move between S.America and the united states. As teh vacuum opened up after the Pablo Inc fell apart these dudes had infrastructure and a clear demand, the next logical step was to find a supply.

The difference is that pablo's drug carried a far more horrible stigma and the whole CIA thing IMHO drew him to much fire. If you ask me it's also the reason we don't see to much cross boarded activity by the cartels. They really don't want it with the US. You start seeing tour buses going missing here and the us government will be down there in a damn heartbeat. Somethign tells me that is the only way this ends.
