I saw a documentary on this where they studied the neurological goings-ons when gamblers play a game compared to a normal human () and they showed that the receptors in the brain are more lit up in reaction to near-wins or near-losses.

Basically, like you said, it's the rush that we are addicted to. You should watch this movie called Owning Mahoney.

There's a scene where a psychologist asks the protagonist, "Rate how alive you feel on a day-to-day basis on a scale from 1 to 10."

He says, "Two."

"Ok, now tell me how alive you feel when you're gambling."

He says, "10."

I'm definitely addicted to sportsbetting. Thing is, now i bet what I can afford. Luckily I have gotten a lot better, but at the end of the day, we're gambling here. Money will be won, money will be lost.

I love cards, too, but I don't play serious money with cards anymore. I had a rude awakening losing over $1500 from Blackjack.

I know exactly what you're feeling and it's a barren, dark emptiness in your stomach. I have pleaded with God and my dead father to bring me luck or grant me one last big win and I swear I'll quit forever, but it's virtually impossible.

I used to be a complete degen betting like $500 on meaningless Kings - Timberwolves games in the middle of the night. You also need to find other hobbies to fill whatever void it is you're trying to fill with gambling. Mine definitely started from depression and a love of sports.

I just like it to much to quit, so to control it, I only play within my means. You need to stop betting with what you can't afford to lose.

You need to avoid gambling consuming your entire life.

I'm dead serious when I say this, but you need anything or someone to talk about this with n/h, I'm here. This is an addiction very few people understand or take seriously.

so much real shyt said here I don't now where to start but you right I need sum more hobbies cause right now gambling is my number hobbies and I also prayed asking for one more big win. last night I had to stop myself from asking god why im so unlucky

For one, I'd stop playing cards. Not that makes any difference, but take a little break for a while. I've taken breaks before, too, only to go right back at it. You need to take this L and let is sink in and after a little while you'll get over this. Trust me.

If you do decide to hop back on the wagon, just play for fun. When you feel that empty feeling after a loss, let be over $20 on the Monday night game rather than $500 after the guy across from you has A K to beat your A Q
