Me personally I take great pride that my ancestors built themselves up from nothing and made a mark not only on America but on the world. That numerous Black Americans have contributed to the American project, and believe in its ideals even if it doesnāt always abide by them. One of my relatives was killed by the Klan. A famous relative mind you. He still believed in America.
Black Americans have served heroically in ever American conflict and have been present in every great American epoch.
Asking why I feel pride in being American is like asking why I feel pride in my family. We are inexorably linked through good and bad. There is no other country.
Now that Iāve answered honestly. If you hate America, why are you here?
