on my mothers side, my great great grandparents were both biracial and could pass, as far back as that was they were definitely children of slaves
my great grandmother couldn't pass, but she was light with straight hair
edit: since @Marti did specify in the op, no they didn't actually pass, but they could have is what I mean.

when my great great grandfather moved to philly from SC his sister went to boston and passed for white

Not many tried since they could easily be outed and lynched. shyt wasn’t easy, it was dangerous. Passing meant life or death.
My great grandmothers sisters moved to the east and passed as white. I’m pretty sure their bloodline is nothing but white people now

They were mixed black people that looked white ( really light skin, straight hair, sometimes colored eyes, and white like features)
I look nothing like my great grandmother .
