I think flat bars are fine..

I've done rides from 1 to 2.5hrs on flat bars and never felt any discomfort...

I have drop bars now because I'm on a road bike.. but im looking to sell this setup and go for a hybrid again with flats. I've had a road bike with drop bars for about a year now and I'm constantly changing broken spokes and tubes because I take curbs hard and ride a bit off road with my racer smh

I'm going to be well ready
Been riding at different intensities for at least an 1 up to 3 hours for about month. Sometimes you gotta ride light and keep pedaling for and hour or 2 just to get your body's used to the movement over a long period of time. Other times you gotta crank that intensity and push hard. Or alternative between light and hard.

The thing about a road bike with dropped handlebars is you can ride on top or dropped in

Comfort is relative. I can ride hybrid for 6 hours and never get uncomfortable with flat bars. Not in my arms or back.

One of the huge things to be aware of is make sure you are not squeezing the fukk out of your handlebars. You waste uncessesary energy squeezing onto the handlebars for dear life. You'll realize it takes very minimal effort to control the handlebars and maintain balance and even turn. But some riders squeeze the fukk out of the handbars which causes hand fatigue which travels to the forearm, they they straighten the forearm, which puts pressure on the shoulders but alleviates stress from the forearm, but then your shoulders start to hurt so you adjust your back, then your back starts to hurt....

Whether you go hybrid or full road is your choice. I have a hybrid (flat bar) and road bike (dropped bar) and I like them both the same.

I just got this Cannondale Synapse 3 today

What you think?:lupe:

CAC had it in storage and my father was able to low-ball him to $200

All stock OEM everything

Went online and seen these retail for $1k+

I just ordered some regular aluminum pedals to swap em out with these cleat pedals

My first road bike, wanted to ask if it's normal for my hands to ache while gripping the bars, I can't seem to find a comfortable grip while having access to the brake, I do t have the tool on me bit I feel the seat is way too high and adding alot of pressure forward to my hands

Wen the pedals come in I'm takin it to get tuned up and get my seat reajusted, hoping that helps

I don't know if I said it in this thread or one of the other bike threads but don't squeeze or choke the handlebars. It just wastes your energy and causes your muscles to fatigue in a way that is going to travel through your body like a chain reaction.

If you're squeezing, choking and gripping the handlebars first your hands will get tired then your wrists, then your forearm, then your upper arm and shoulder, then your neck and back. You'll consistently be over compensating and adjusting trying to alleviate pain and being uncomfortable.

Try riding without gripping. See if once you stop thinking about it if it all goes away and you get used to it.

Beautiful bike by the way. Hopefully you get to put some miles on it.

Hopefully getting mine next week, just got fitted for a single speed, they’re expensive though.

I have a 80s era Trek steel frame road bike and a modern cannondale hooligan hybrid.
Everytime I change gears on the Trek the gears pop. I want to replace that whole gear unit and install bullhorn handle bars
Has anyone done that type of work themselves? These local bike shop prices are crazy

What resources did you use to learn how to work on bikes?
Any good bike forums or youtube channels to follow
I watched a video today of a dude who got a carbon fiber frame from china for $200 :russ:
