He showed clear range in 3 hours transitioning from Malcolm Little to Malcolm X

I think what the TS is tryna say is something like Daniel Day in There Will Be Blood and Lincoln or a Sean Penn in Milk, Carlito's Way or Mystic River. He means change in accents and somewhat unrecognizable than what they usually look like.

Well what the crazy thing is Denzel don't have to do that AND he stills comes off amazing and believable in character.

Matt Damon in the Informant :mindblown:

Gary Oldman in True Romance :mindblown::mindblown:

So basically Denzel has to do a comedy in order for him to be considered a good actor?:dwillhuh:

basically to these clowns, if your aren't playing a homosexual, putting on a British accent, playing an old guy, then you don't have range. fukk outta here. Some of y'all let cac Hollywood cloud your judgment on what should be a phenomenal performance.

Denzel playing Malcolm Little and transitioning to Malcolm X is a top 3 GREATEST acting performance in film history of ALL TIME. You film snobs and pretentious clowns can't tell me shyt.

:whoa:

IDK if this is directed at me but I was quoted so I'll assume it was.

I think Denzel is one of the greatest going today and of all time and I pointed out some roles where my nikka Zel showed a lot of range in my original post, I was just pointing out a couple of other roles where other dudes showed a lotta range.

Denzel is a great actor and no one is saying otherwise. However, Denzel has little to no range in regards to the type of rolls he plays.

:what:

John Q, Hurricane, Malcolm X, Cry Freedom, Training Day, and Mississippi Masala are all very different roles and shows that he can play and adapt to different characters. What kind of character do you want him to play. Please provide actors that have the kind of range y'all are looking for.

American Gangster he was playing Frank Lucas. Frank Lucas was a southern, backwoods, country boy with a penchant for the exaggerated. He was far from well spoken, well mannered, calculating character that Denzel played him as. That was his chance to loosen up.

Denzel does indeed have range, but I don't think he's used it in quite a while. Maybe Training Day being his darkest, Manchurian Candidate after that.

Not too many actors can pull this off without looking corny. I always liked how he was angry with his vains popping outta his neck in the scene but kept a smile to show the villain in him.

I get what the O.P. is saying, but you gotta understand that black leading roles are typecasted for box office reasons to ensure sales.....Does Denzel have range? I think so.

Have we seen a lot of it? Not really.

Its the same reason why Sam Jack always plays Sam Jack and Wil Smith always plays Wil Smith most of the time....Its strictly to ensure box office sales
