I’ve had a set of irons for the past 10 years sitting in my closet but never used them. Just went out and played a 9 hole for the first time yesterday.

I would like to play more but don’t have the time or resources for private lessons to get better.

I play two other sports that are a considerable drain on my time and money so can’t really invest in lessons from a golf pro at the moment but wanted to know if any Coli brehs recommend anyone on YouTube I could follow for grip/swing/posture/strategy advice that I can use as guidance as I learn on my own? Was told you have to be careful with who you have teach you because you can pick up their bad habits.

I have a put return and can go to the driving range to practice. Anyone know a good account I can follow on YouTube to get better?

my uncle used to work as a groundskeeper at a golf course, so i did a lot of golfing in the summers when i was really young (5-10).

i was actually pretty good for my age, but nothing i really stuck with. i've gone a few times as an adult, but i see it more of a thing to do when you're smoking/drinking and it's actually pretty fun that way.:lolbron:

Get a groupon for a cpl hours from a pro just so you can get the fundamentals of

1. Stance/alignment
2. Grip
3. Basic understanding of the mechanics of a swing

Sometimes they even have group lessons. It’s a minor investment but will more than offset all the money you’d spend at the range trying to teach yourself a swing and most likely ingraining very bad swing patterns that you’ll never get beyond.

Even if you never get another lesson in your life I would definitely get one for the initial introduction. So much of golf is feel. Videos etc are more useful to more experienced players who want to focus on very specific parts of the game/swing. It’s hard to hear someone else tell you what a certain swing move will feel like.

This is advice that is easier said than done, but when it comes to the driving range it’s fun to do but try not to get in the habit of going there and just hitting 200 balls. Once you have a basic understanding of the swing, I would get into habit of only taking a few clubs to every range visit. It will focus your efforts and you’re likely to isolate issues when you’re swinging the same club.

Didn’t know they have Groupons for that. Are the Groupons offered through clubs/courses or individual pros?

So you recommend not to use YouTube videos for guidance yet until I get some initial lessons? Or do you recommend holding off on videos altogether?
