This guy losing 20 pounds:

Is much different than this guy losing 20:

Exactly what I came in to say.

As far as this thread to this day I hate Charles Barkley for this fight. Spurs/Lakers were playing the same night as this fight was happening. So me and some friends decided to watch Spurs/Lakers first and then after that's over watch the PPV. The game was at halftime and in the middle of them talking out of nowhere Barkley just yells "OMG Roy Jones just got knocked out". Spoiled that shyt for us big time. So then we all went running into the other room to watch and see what happened.

I remember watching Inside the NBA, and Charles Barkley blurted out of nowhere "Roy Jones just got knocked out!"

I know. shyt was crazy.

Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr, and Manny Pacquiao getting KO'd are still the most shocking KOs that caught me off guard. AB almost made this list....luckily the ropes were there:to:

Really????

I remember being at the Source Awards in MIA back in 2003. Tyson and Roy were on the stage presenting some bullshyt award or introducing somebody, Tyson mentioned taking Roy's new lil heavyweight trinket (Belt he won from Ruiz) and the crowd went wild my nikka. Cats really wanted to see that fight happen. That shyt would have done a mil in ppv sales despite Iron Mike being way past it. Everybody wanted to see if Roy could evade that power for the 1st 3 or 4 rounds. shyt would have been legit suspenseful.

They really should have made that fight happen, but I think when Ruiz buzzed Roy early in their bout (You could see Jones slightly buckle, but he played it off and fired right back) he didn't wanna chance any other heavyweight landing a good shot. Ruiz was average as hell, but he had a solid right hand. Dude even dropped Holyfield (of all people) with that shyt. If Mike would have landed the shot he decked Golota with on Roy he would have prolly killed his ass. It's fukked up though cuz most people thought Roy would have outboxed Mike and make him quit. Dude just ain't believe in himself enough to do it.

If I recall correctly I think Corrie Sanders was the mandatory for Roy's belt too and he ain't want no parts of that dude.

was this at 5:10?

this the only footage I could find

Head down, eyes closed...and landed the perfect shot. I was shocked and my roommates at the time were so sick about it they just went to bed LOL. I still can't put the effect that KO had on our place that night into words. One of those I remember where I was moments.

In regards to Roy having to drop "so much weight", Chris Byrd speaks on it:

:manny:
i respect chris byrd's opinion when he talks about boxing...i fukk with his youtube channel hard...but he needs to :camby:with the comments about weight loss...prime chris byrd was a blown up heavyweight who eventually grew up into his size...his type of fighting was a plus facing the heavies he fought but not as a light heavyweight esp his wear and tear after facing the likes of holyfield, both klitschkos, ike, tua, golota...no one told his silly ass to lose 40 pounds in 5 weeks and go fight :damn:..combined with those 2 things got the brakes beaten off of him for it..roy was worse..dude already had low body fat and burned muscle off..that fukked him up and its clear as a day it did

Yeah that was it.

The thing is you gotta remember is it wasn't aired lived. I was there for the taping so it's possible that part didn't make it to the final cut. I never got a chance to see it when it aired on UPN.

Thinking back there were 2 parts of that show that really got a reaction from the crowd.

1. When Tyson challenged Roy
2. During the Shake ya Tail Feather performance with Nelly they had some lil girls ages (8-11) wearing short shorts that were dancing on stage with the other choreographed dancers and at the end they started twerking and shaking they ass out for the audience. Like they literally turned around with they ass facing the audience and did that shyt. nikkas were like :snoop::dwillhuh::what::huhldup:. You heard boos an everything. fukking perverts would have had a field day off that scene alone.

I'm a die hard Bryd fan and I can't even co-sign that shyt he said about the weight. Bryd never had the type of lean muscle Roy had. The only time he was ever jacked up and ripped was for the Golota fight. Other than that he was normal looking for most of his career.
