Since 1996? That's a pretty good run for marriage nowadays, especially in hollywood. I wonder what would make someone want to divorce after that long, especially when they can just afford a house big enough not to have to see each other ever.
For people wondering why support goes through in these cases, the court system makes money off of evey dollar in support that is paid out, and the people that process the payments get to retain thier jobs.
If you cut out the support system, all those people lose employment and the state loses all that money.
That's why these laws will not change.
