For people wondering why support goes through in these cases, the court system makes money off of evey dollar in support that is paid out, and the people that process the payments get to retain thier jobs.

If you cut out the support system, all those people lose employment and the state loses all that money.

That's why these laws will not change. :yeshrug:

can somebody explain divorce laws to me?
i don't get it, if they split their fortune, which means she already has money and she makes money on her own, why does he have to pay spousal support? i understand paying when she has no money and no income, but if she does, why does she get 65k a month (some people don't even earn that much a year) just because she used to be married to him?
Spousal is temporary and until it's truly finalized. He got off good without alimony. Alimony you pay until that chick remarries which they usually never do.

so they split their finances for over 10 years, they are in the same tax bracket, and he still gotta pay $780,000 a year?

No he doesn't. Spousal is temporary. Alimony is the kicker.
