The DEI program seems to have been trying to upend that tho. Thankfully its getting canned, that bullshyt was going to EVVVVVERYBODY anyway. Now they can make a program SPECIFICALLY for some stupid ass acronym I just made up. Anti-DEI groups and Non Black Americans will support it 100%
Thank you. These dudes always have to be contrarians. Even with the history of racism in unions and the skilled trades, that doesn't justify undoing current efforts to reduce discrimination. These policies and initiatives aim to address the very racist exclusion they're criticizing, yet they run in here shrugging their shoulders and running interference for the same racists who want to preserve the status-quo. It makes no sense.

yea, maybe it's regional because I did see some union involved with the longshoremen strike that appeared all black
but generally in my area it's heavy nepotism and racism keeping brehs out of the skilled trades/unions
so bad that the Sixers had to put certain language into the proposal for their new arena to guarantee a certain % of black union workers would get an opportunity. otherwise that shyt surely would be 100% white and hispanic
majority black city and almost no black people are on the work sites for all this new development around the city, make it make sense

Exactly, that's all I'm saying breh. Unions have been on that type of time for decades
If you are a young breh, the best way to get into trades are with a private company. They care more about profit and manpower

On top of that you learn a wide variety of things and are given more responsibility in a private company that you can use to eventually open up your own company

As someone who works in the Construction Industry this doesn't mean shyt. Trades are in a huge decline. A lot of dudes are retiring. For every 4 retirees, only 1 new apprentice comes in

Time to start thinking outside of america with that mindset of relying on each other. Black people are too obsessed with trying to make this abusive relationship with the European work. Notice I only said "thinking",but this will still trigger some. Of course not everyone will leave, but thinking outside of america will open up more opportunities. Not that im endorsing taking the Europeans cancerous capitalistic ideals to another land. But more of us need to get in that headspace for the sole purpose of maintaining our sanity and peace. Do people really wanna spend the next 50 years talking about what we need to do to get ahead in white supremacy. As if we dont know what white supremacy is? Open up your minds, then you can make educated decisions:respect:
Like the educated decision you took when you put a gun on your nightstand to coerce a woman into sex?

Above the fray.

Yeah, guys in that industry are 3,4,5th generation to do so and they have the contacts and clientele, know the certs. to have, etc.
They're fighting anything that cuts into that pie.

I put up the vid, stamp, & article of the Labor Secretary testifying and being questioned by Congress in the thread. From May of this year.

The officials pushing back against Apprentice rule change were doing so to keep the status quo in the Trades/Unions. Speaking directly to a segment of their voters. And I'm sure it got covered in the news, podcaster, radio shows that cater to those voters.

By the same token, the news, websites, podcaster, radio programs with Black audiences should have covered it as well.I doubt it, and in May 2024 those outlets were probably covering trivial shyt.

Keep MFers entertained and uninformed.

The Minority Maga stay ducking these kinds of threads. Also noticed gaza is no longer worth discussing on here.

Anyway, expect stuff like this to escalate. Project 2025 gave the blueprint. Enjoy.

The Gaza stuff to me was egregious as shyt cause it's a legitimate problem

yet they treated it like a fad

and yet ain't said a peep about Sudan

LOL @ this article pretending like it was a new development

Skilled Trade Unions have always been prejudice to non-White Men applying for those jobs, for damn near 50+ years. Been really hard for young black men to get started in trades without experiencing heavy racism
That's why I'm puzzled everytime I see people on here cape so much for Unions
I went to a non union trade school when I started. Glad I did too if I would of came up in the union I'd have a lot of bad habits that would be hard to break.

Honestly this is probably gonna hurt women more so than anyone. Been a lot of women getting into trades in recent years, they still hella outnumbered but I never used to see women on jobs like that until a few years ago.
